Job Description
Carnegie India is looking to hire a Research Fellow for its Technology and Society focus area. This is a full-time role at Carnegie India's office in New Delhi.
As part of the technology and society vertical, the team at Carnegie India addresses five key areas: data governance and privacy; strategic technologies including semiconductors and defense; emerging technologies like AI and biotechnology; digital public infrastructure with a focus on rapid development and inter-state dialogue; and strategic partnerships such as the India-U.S. TRUST Initiative, UK-India Technology and Security Initiative, and the EU-India Trade and Technology Council.
The selected Research Fellow must be able to support ongoing areas of works but pivot to other projects, some of which may not be reflected in the programmatic focus, given the evolving nature of emerging and strategic technologies. The selected Research Fellow will be responsible for carrying out research, outreach, and writing related to the work of this vertical.
The Technology and Society vertical also takes a lead role in setting-out the conceptual and practical outline for Carnegie India's flagship annual Global Technology Summit (GTS) and the GTS innovation dialogue. The Research Fellow will also be expected to contribute to the planning of these events and other closed door and public engagements.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Candidates must have excellent verbal and written command of English, and a master's degree in law, public policy, data science, economics, or a related field with keen interest in issues related to technology policy and a minimum of six to ten years of relevant work experience.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in policy research and stakeholder engagement. The selected candidate will have strong research and organizational skills, the ability to work on flexible deadlines, the capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and have a proven track record of peer reviewed publications.
