In an effort to measurably improve UNICEF's ability to deliver better results for children, there is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of a society’s most disadvantaged citizens — addressing inequity — not only will give all children the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital. It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of nations.

The Resource Mobilization and Partnership (RM&P) section works with the corporate sector, Foundations and Major Donors to maximize income and drive income growth.  There are three pillars within RM&P.  The purpose of the Corporate Fundraising unit is to drive income growth from the corporate sector as part of an integrated corporate engagement strategy.  Income growth will come from three sources: i) the renewal and growth of existing in-country and multi-country partnerships, ii) the development of new strategic partnerships and iii) the support given to state offices to develop and strengthen their state level fundraising capacity and skills.

Under the general supervision of the Fundraising Manager, Individual Fundraising, the incumbent will be responsible for providing technical input and recommendations, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating fundraising strategies with the objective of acquiring new quality individual donors through digital channels. This includes managing and overseeing a variety of individual fundraising techniques; new initiatives as well as new and existing pledge and one-time acquisition, in order to ensure the growth of pledge donors to achieve an ultimate goal of maximizing the number of new donors acquired and the related net income.

Key function, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement effective acquisition strategies across digital channels, utilizing and maximizing a variety of fundraising techniques to drive new pledge donor as well as meet agreed targets and achieve net income.  This includes scoping and testing of new digital channels and initiatives as well as analyzing and evaluating individual fundraising opportunities with the objective of identifying new additional, sustainable high-volume income streams and diversifying digital acquisition and retention activity.
  • Source, manage and provide operational support to agencies, contractors and suppliers engaged to support the digital donor acquisition program ensuring that they perform at high standards.  This includes briefing, training and motivation of outsourced staff or others representing UNICEF such as telemarketers in lead generation campaigns.  Evaluate their performance in order to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with relevant external partners to ensure appropriate management of acquisition to maximize results. This includes the management of digital infrastructure including donation pages, payment gateways and other digital platforms to provide a positive online donor experience.
  • Support the development and nurturing of partnerships with corporates, media companies and other business supporting digital acquisition activities, including those providing pathways to pledge.
  • Enhance Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) efficiency and effectiveness through implementation follow-on, including monitoring inputs, local conditions and resources, assistance and PFP programme implementation status.
  • Develop investment fund applications, monitor fund utilization and prepare required reporting in a timely and effective manner.
  • Analyze collected data and information and prepare monitoring progress reports; draft changes in PFP work plans relevant to acquiring digital individual donors and assist in identification of required budget, supplies and equipment as well as in the drafting of other project documentation, assuring accuracy and consistency with established rules, regulations and plans of action, especially in agreed strategic plan which ensures maximum effectiveness of fund availability from new donors as well as maximum diversification of risks.
  • Provide technical assistance for customer support which includes but not limited to on responses to prospecting donor inquiries via mail, email, phone, social media, etc.
  • Perform other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time including supporting the Resource Mobilization team on digital activities.
  • Supervise, oversee and monitor assistant(s) and/or consultants(s).

Requirements of the position (QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES):-

Education:

University degree in the related field is required.

Experience:

  • Two years of practical professional work experience in new media marketing and all major digital channels such as paid search, display, email marketing, mobile marketing, web design and build, etc.
  • Experience in the use of content management systems, email broadcasting tools and analytics packages.
  • Proven skills in managing partnerships with publishers and agencies.
  • Fundraising experience will be a preference

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local language of duty station.
