About The Happy Schooling Project:

With Happy Learning at the centre of our design, The Happy Schooling Project is a combined initiative of Kaarmic Education Services and Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society. The initiative aims at creating a positive learning environment in identified Government Institutions where students could feel a strong sense of belonging and achievement at their respective schools. A happy schooling experience is integral to a students’ belief in a system and willingness to aim higher and continue in the path of growth.

The intervention follows a completely activity based, experiential curriculum format centered around the Seven Survival Skills put forth by Harvard University’s Change Leadership Group and offers a customised and unique learning experience for the fellows and students of every age group.

In 2018, The Happy Schooling Project will be conducted in 15 Government Schools that are located in Rural parts of Telangana.

Job Role of a Fellow

There will be one fellow stationed at one particular institution and will be often working with a nearby institution’s fellow. The role requires the discipline to drive a systemic behavioral change in most sustainable way. Following are different areas of work with potential weightages:

The students are first generation learners and have high levels of English Language Anxiety, the fellow is required to work along with the core team and institution leadership team to introduce creative opportunities of participation for the students and create a fun English speaking environment for the whole institution. 2Performance Monitoring and Improvements using real-time data (10%)

We believe that in a data driven world, school reform decisions should be made on data coming from various stakeholders on the field – Einstein said, the formulation of a problem is more important than the solution itself, the fellows are required to create a school report card to gauge the happiness index across all stakeholders in the school.

Accurately monitor and analyze daily student attendance, academic performance homework and discipline data; create new systems and structures to proactively address school’s areas of need.

3. Initiatives through the student community (30%)

The strength of every school is the vibrancy of the student community, this intervention aims to bring together the student community towards building a culture of positivity, brother/sisterhood and collective development (while having a lot of fun!). The fellow addresses the underlying issues at school, like vandalism, bullying, hygiene, etc. through gamified missions, to be solved by the student council, under the leadership of the fellow.

4. School Development  (20%)
