Internal Audit Consultant

The Clean Air Fund is looking to engage an Internal Audit Consultant in India to help auditing a selection of our grantees.  

As an Internal Audit Consultant you would conduct internal audits of grantees, evaluate risk management and internal controls and provide capacity building in risk areas by providing detailed grantee audit reports with findings and recommended actions.

Tasks will include;

• assessments of adequacy of the Grantee’s governance, including financial monitoring, sustainability, and statutory compliance. 
• assessment of the adequacy of the Grantee’s financial control procedures. 
• assessment of the completeness of the Grantee’s supporting documentation for financial transactions. 
• ensuring that the accounting system is sufficient to allow the Grantee to report accurate figures and that there is a reasonable audit trail between source records, the accounting system and the reports produced. 
• assessment of the Grantee’s procurement and supply management systems and ensure that an open and competitive selection process is in place for quality and timely procurement. 
• assessment of the Grantee’s cash management and handling policies and control systems and ensure that reconciliations are performed systematically. 
• ensuring that the Grantee has adequate procedures for any onward granting. 
• examining the adequacy of the human resources, information technology and security systems of the Grantee.

To complete this work, the consultant will conduct compliance tests, seek documentary evidence of controls in operation, sample test transactions and interview appropriate staff. You will produce an internal audit report, in consultation with Clean Air Fund, and will liaise with the Grantee to obtain management responses to any recommendations raised. 

To be successful in this role you will have experience from similar roles.

• Closing date – 16th May 2024 
• Remuneration- Day rate- please enclose your daily rate in your application
• Type of employment- Consultancy
• Duration- Each audit is expected to take 5 to 10 working days although this will be spread over a few weeks. We estimate we will need 30 to 40 days a year spread over 4 to 5 audits. This could also increase in time
