Position Overview

The Manager – MEAL is responsible for leading the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems across programs. This role ensures data quality, performance tracking, learning integration, and accountability to stakeholders. The position plays a key role in translating data into actionable insights for program improvement.

Core Responsibilities (70%)

• Design and roll out program-level MEL plans, tools, and data collection protocols.
• Supervise regular data collection, quality checks, analysis, and dashboard updates.
• Lead outcome and impact assessments, evaluations, and special studies.
• Conduct periodic field visits to monitor progress, verify data, and support field staff.
• Build capacity of staff in MEL tools, data use, and participatory monitoring.
• Prepare analytical reports and briefs for internal and donor audiences.

Link Responsibilities (15%)

• Coordinate closely with Program teams for indicator setting and activity tracking.
• Support Communications and Fundraising with evidence-based narratives.
• Liaise with IT/Data system vendors for MIS maintenance and updates.

Systemic Responsibilities (15%)

• Promote data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Ensure ethical data practices and safeguarding in all MEL activities.
• Support creation of a learning culture through reflection workshops and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Required
• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or relevant field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in MEAL roles in development organizations.

Preferred
• Experience in designing MEL systems and tools.
• Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong data analysis, visualization, and reporting skills.
• Hands-on experience with digital tools like Kobo, Power BI, SPSS, or Excel.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and team management abilities.
