Job Description

 

Reports to:     Manager – Research

Location:        Ahmedabad, although the job will involve travel to project sites of Sense International India.

Salary:            Salary offered will be negotiable based on relevant experience and qualifications of the candidate. 

Nature:           This post is contractual in nature, i.e. a renewable contract of 2 years (inclusive of 6 months probationary period).  

Hours:            44 hours per week (Including Lunch Break)

Post Description

In line with strategic plans and policy guidelines of Sense International India, the person will work with the Manager – Research to undertake research projects on issues and intersections associated with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairment (MSI).

The position requires supporting the organisation to fulfil its strategic objectives through research work on the issues associated with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairment and undertaking various research projects to understand the needs, challenges and progress around persons with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairment.

 

Specific responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of research projects which shall undertake research duties associated with one or more research projects, which may include, for example:
    • Identifying the need areas for various research subjects
    • Drafting literature reviews and analysis
    • Developing, implementing and evaluating key stakeholder/expert interviews
    • Planning and collating data
    • Drafting reports
  • Presenting the outcomes of research projects and publishing research articles, conferences and seminars
  • Work with Manager – Research, Manager-Training, and other Sense India team members to develop concept notes and write research proposals.
  • Identification and maintenance of key relationships with stakeholders demonstrating the ability to liaise and communicate with a diverse range of people, including senior officers, government departments, organizational staff and other stakeholders.
  • Work and coordinate with team members to implement research projects and findings to validate research outcomes.
  • Support in overall administration and smooth functioning of office  and any other work as agreed with line manager
  • Strengthen data management of data being generated from various Sense India programmes and activities
  • Analyse key programme data and come-up with various reports and analysis to support programme development of Sense India

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

Technical knowledge/experience:

  • Graduate (with two years of experience) /Post Graduate in Social Sciences or in relevant subjects.
  • Demonstrated skills in literature review, stakeholder/key expert interviews and other data gathering methods – including demonstrated high level skills in drafting reports
  • Should have proven record of undertaking research projects in the area of education, disability, health issues etc.
  • Willing to travel 10-15 days and conduct the research work
  • Should be comfortable using SPSS or any other research management software. 
  • Operate a computer and MS Office programs
  • Takes initiative and offers new ideas

  • Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels
  • Written and spoken communication skills in Hindi and English, knowledge of regional language will be added advantage
  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Able to facilitate groups
  • Good personal presentation
  • Personal commitment to improving one's own knowledge and skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing interests.
  • Time management skills to deliver quality projects efficiently
  • Monitoring and multi –tasking skills
