About Organisation

Chaitanya, a development organization established in 1993, is one of the pioneers of community based micro-finance institutions in Maharashtra. Since its formation, Chaitanya has played a catalytic role in spreading SHG movement in and around Maharashtra. At present 40 federations promoted by Chaitanya are owned and governed by women members of 8500 plus self-help groups and work as strong sustainable institutions that perform financial and other social/developmental activities. Chaitanya has been a National Resource Organization for NRLM, NABARD and National Rural Development Department. Our funders include DFID, Ernst and Young, FORD, NABARD besides others.

Women’s Integrated and Synergistic Empowerment (WISE) is promoted by Chaitanya and supported by Small Industries Bank of India (SIDBI) under the Poorest States Inclusion Growth(PSIG) programme to expand women’s SHG and federations through field level pilots that augment learning and development in the sector.

Position – Operations Manager

Location - Indore

Eligibility

  • Post-graduation with experience preferably in microfinance and management
  • Microfinance or banking experience of more than five years
  • Proficient in English and regional language

Competence Criteria

  • Effective team management and problem solving skills
  • Well versed in IT skills – MS office, PPT , Excel sheet
  • Knowledge of SHG-microfinance, rural context and development issues
  • Understanding of community based institution development process
  • Ability to identify organizational development issues & provide solutions
  • Ability to monitor performance of federation and staff and guide to improve performance.
  • Credit and risk analysis
  • A team player and effective manager, with mutual respect for and willingness to be supportive of team members.
  • Must possess the ability to assess market demand and trends for microfinance products.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Capacity to understand and be true to organisation’s mission and values.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills. 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage operations
    • Market research: Manage the market research activity for both branch expansion and product development.
    • Branch Setup and Management: Roll out and manage branches in accordance with the business plan.
    • Monitoring: Supervise all the microfinance activity in the operational region.
  • HR Related
    • Identify human resource requirements and manage the recruitment activity for field personnel in line with the organisational policies and in consultation with HR department.
    • Conduct performance appraisals for staff reporting to this position and oversee the appraisal process for all other staff in the assigned operational region.
    • Assist the HR team in framing and reviewing personnel policies.
  • Financial Management
    • Prepare and manage the operational budget for the assigned region in line with the business plan.
    • Oversee and be responsible for all accounts associated with operations.
    • Evaluate all internal control systems and take necessary corrective steps
  • Communication and Documentation:
    • Prepare various manuals and documents to facilitate smooth conduct of operations and oversee the translation of these documents to local language.
    • Assist the finance team with reporting to external parties including donors, investors and lenders.
    • Ensure all policy changes are communicated to the field personnel.
