Atmashakti an NGO is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to to supervise managers and oversee delivery of programmes.

We are a grass root organisation that intends to be close to the ground realities of the field we engage in. Thus, this is not a desk job but a set of tasks that will require you to travel to the rural parts of India and interact with communities and accordingly design programs.


HQ – New Delhi with a scope to travel to state of Odisha.


Relevant Sectors:


Socio-economic Surveys, Research, Field Management, Rural Development, Income & Livelihoods,  Financial Inclusion, Public Health, Nutrition, Water & Sanitation, Women & Child Development, Education.


Job Responsibility:

  • Headquartered in New Delhi, the directors will be travelling often to rural parts of Odisha.
  • Facilitate communication between departments
  • Upon understanding data, strategizing the new operations to be undertaken with innovation and creativity.
    • Initiating programs to mobilise masses for the larger people's movement.
    • Well-versed with general rights and entitlements of the Odisha's tribes and communities.
    • Knows about the advocy of rights and the protocol for leveraging them in the politically sensitive areas of the state.
    • Understand objectives of the organization and accordingly set strategies and goals.
    • Detailed planning - deadlines, milestones and processes
    • Developing or approving budgets and operations
    • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements
    • Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people
    • Apply change, risk and resource management principles when needed
    • Ensure adherence to legal guidelines and internal policies for programmes.



  1. Post Graduate in relevant fields (Social Work / Rural Development / Management / Economics / Agriculture / Science / Public Health / Hospital Management / Nutrition / Education / or any other relevant field)
  2. Willingness to travel and stay in Odisha 
  3. 10+ years experience in administration or directing/ heading/ initiating programs.
  4. Deep understanding of the development sector.
  5. Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics, data analysis and budgeting.
  6. An  efficient team worker with problem solving abilities.
  7. Ability to write proposals, progress reports and mobilise funds.
  8. Experience in managing large teams [mention the details]
