About Step Up for India

Step Up for India is a registered not for profit Trust dedicated to creating and effectively implementing programs to improve the level of English among children from underprivileged backgrounds across India.

We have signed MOUs with the Department of Education, Govt. of Karnataka and SCERT, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, to implement our English programs in all the Govt. schools in these states. Our programs have so far benefited over 5.6 lakh students and over 21,600 teachers in Kannada, Hindi and Urdu medium Govt. schools in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.

We are looking to hire a committed and motivated person to join the team as Finance Officer. He/she would be responsible for overseeing end-to-end finance operations of the Trust and will be reporting to the Executive Director.

Job Description

The ideal candidate should have strong financial knowledge and be able to manage budgets, analyse financial statements, create financial reports, forecast financial performance, and identify various methods of cost cutting. The Finance Officer will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to ensure the organisation’s financial success and growth. The responsibility of coordinating and liaising with the accounting and auditing firms for ensuring all financial statements are correctly prepared and submitted will be critical for this role.

Compensation: The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

Location: Bangalore

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

●               Management of the financial operations of the organisation, including budgeting, analysis, and reporting.

●               Producing the financial reports related to budgets, expenses etc.

●               Responsible for all the compliance functions, including filing of returns (PT, TDS etc and liaison with accounting firms for preparation and submission of Quarterly and Annual returns).

●               Oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions including tax calculations of staff.

●               Responsible for the Trust’s financial transactions and petty cash management.

●               Liaison with the bank and regulatory authorities when needed.

●               Provide regular updates on the financial health of the organization to the Management team and support in decision making.

●               Keeping abreast with the developments/changes in the relevant laws and regulations (including FCRA).

●               Developing in drafting financial policies for the Trust. 

 

Operation Functions:

FCRA Accounts:

●               Maintenance of all the invoices and payments, donor-wise files, for processing Audited UCs

●               Ensuring compliance with all FCRA accounting and reporting requirements, including filing of tax returns regularly, maintaining books of accounts (receipts and payments etc.)

●               Responsibility for the FCRA renewals, including liaison with FCRA officials and preparation of all required documents for annual inspections.

Procurement:

●               Processing end to end procurement.

●               Identifying new cost-effective vendors when required.

●               Inventory Management and ensuring the list of the stock is checked & updated regularly.

Donor related functions:

●               Preparing proposals for the current and potential donors with detailed budget reports.

●               Follow up with the donors for releasing funds and maintenance of donors’ project files.

●              Preparation of Grant requests and donor receipts.

●              Assisting the auditors in the preparation of Utilisation Certificates.

●               Review and modification of MOUs when required.
