Organization Background

Youth Dreamers Foundation (YDF) is a not-for-profit organisation registered under Sec 8 (1) of the Companies Act, 2015. YDF envisions that every child must have an equal opportunity to gain knowledge and skills regardless of her socio-economic condition. YDF aims to support 1 million underprivileged students to pursue higher education by 2022.

Position Overview

The Program Leader (Field Operations) should work towards ensuring equal access to higher education to the socio-economically weaker sections of the society. S/he should set up a good liaison and rapport with all the officials involved in the field work for the implementation of all activities relating to “Higher Education Access Support Program” (HEASP). S/he should be able to lead operations, facilitate life skills sessions, advise students on career opportunities and provide scholarship application support to the tribal school students.

Job Responsibilities

  • Program Delivery
    • Work with 5-6 tribal residential schools (Ashramshalas) students of 12th to deliver life-skills sessions that includes; but is not limited to; understanding self, financial literacy, planning, reflection, communication skills, understanding environment, making responsible decisions, digital literacy
    • Work with 10th and 12th std students and assist in delivering career guidance sessions
    • Work with 12th std students to create their profiles, collect their data provide support for application to scholarship schemes
    • Work closely with Design Manager and Program Manager of the program to attune to student’s capacities and needs
    • Work with school staff to encourage their participation in HEASP and coordinate activities at all schools to ensure smooth execution
    • Provide Program Manager with weekly reports on current activities
    • On occasion, facilitate in-house programs and assist other programs requirements when the need arises
    •  Administrative Duties
      • Submits monthly reports including, but not limited to the number of sessions, attendance, activities and the various topics and themes that were addressed
      • Provides leadership in maintaining satisfactory community relationships
      • Adhere to YDF Policy and Procedures while in the workplace and during activities off site

      • Able to identify and address inhibitors to progress
      • Expertise with office technologies, especially Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and internet resources such as google docs
      • Communication Skills
        • Motivating and inspirational verbal presentation style
        • Ability to encourage genuine and respectful communications among program participants
        • Excellent verbal and written skills, as seen in communications with students, parents, partners

Key Deliverables (May be modified to align with organizational goals)

  • Well-planned program delivery, as evidenced in biannual program assessment surveys, school staff feedback, and in reviews by govt. officials
  • Facilitate and deliver life skills sessions; demonstrate improvement in life skills by 2 assessment grade levels
  • Ensure that students receive proper career guidance and get admissions in colleges
  • Support students in availing scholarship grants
    • Regular, timely program reporting and evaluation

Qualifications, experience and other skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in education, social work or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in working with youth
  • Capacity to positively engage adolescent students
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information and effective practices
  • Candidate will be expected to travel to schools throughout Nashik district
    • Excellent written and verbal communication; fluent in Marathi, communicative in Hindi and English languages
