About Us:

Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) is a leadership development organization which works with education leaders to improve student learning outcomes at scale. We work on catalysing public system change by developing a cadre of competent and passionate leaders who have the foresight and courage to sustainably impact the nation’s grassroots at scale. In pursuance of this objective, we currently work in 13 states on building the leadership skills of government education officials at school, block, district and state level.

We strongly believe in the capability of the government systems in India to be the drivers of large-scale change in the domain of education, and over the years, we have worked with governments across multiple states to demonstrate the impact of our efforts on Student Learning Outcomes. With many central and state government bodies shifting focus onto working on systemic change in education, KEF is grateful to have been recognised as a value-adding partner in driving transformation initiatives in education at the State and District levels.

Our interventions with our government partners are made through:

  1. Piramal/Gandhi Fellowship is an intensive 2-year youth leadership program to build leadership capabilities of young leaders through rigorous and reflective experiences at grass-roots and with government system.
  2. Principal Leadership Development Program is designed to build the leadership skills of headmaster and teachers of government schools to improve student learning outcomes.
  3. District Transformation Programis designed to develop CRCs/BRCs as Coaches and Master Trainers within the district to develop teacher capacities, in turn leading to fostering of learning outcomes of children in the district.
  4. State Transformation Program is a systemic change program designed around working with top educational bodies and education officials in the state to build a cadre of highly trained Master Coaches and Master Facilitators to train the teacher trainers within the state, and improve the key processes of the state education system.

Position Overview:

We seek to engage with individuals who share our passion for catalysing sustainable change at large scales to take on the mantle of transforming 1 district and the government schools therein, while working with the CRCs/BRCs of the district.

As a part of our team working on the implementation of the District Education Transformation of the most aspirational districts identified by the Niti Aayog, the Program Manager will hone his/her entrepreneurial abilities and general management skills as they manage the change for innovative strategies & initiatives to transform India’s education system. In the process, they willalso facilitate the journeys of personal and professional transformation in a socially, culturally and academically diverse team of highly motivated youngsters called Gandhi Fellows, and the Program Leaders in their teams.

This position reports to the Program Director and will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the District Transformation Program in 1 district, while working with a team of 3-5 Program Leaders and 15-20 Gandhi Fellows.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Co-create the strategyfor effective implementation of the district education transformation roadmap with the district collector.
  • Support district collector, district magistrate, elected representatives and their teams in planning and prioritizing interventions to meet the district education transformation roadmap objectives.
  • Lead the district level PMU to track progress on the districteducation transformation roadmap.
  • Manage outcomes of ownteamto ensure effective implementation of tools designed to drive outcomes of the district education transformation roadmap.
  • Synthesize insights and reports from program intervention, while working with internal teams and district officials to support program implementation and new product development.
  • Key Skills:
  • Change Management: Experience of managing program transformation, new project/product implementation within the organization as well as with external clients/stakeholders
  • Performance Management: Proven track record of managing and building high performing teams.
  • Facilitation: Expertise in identifying and analysing the training need of a group, and facilitating learning workshops.
  • Collaboration: Affinity to working with cross-functional groups, while balancing project and organizational priorities.
  • Stakeholder management: Capability to build and manage networks with Panchayat or Block level or officials of similar cadre in a District
  • Tolerance for Ambiguity: Readiness to learn, un-learn and re-learn. Comfort with working on solving highly complex problems. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment

Required Experience: Between 8-14 years’ experience in working with government in Education or development sector; expertise in managing dynamic teams of young people in the age-group of 18 -25 years.

Travel: This role requires local and outstation travel for workshops & meetings. The candidate should be open for Travel up to 10-15 days in a month. Cost of travel will be sponsored by the organisation.

Education: Bachelor’s (Must); Masters or equivalent certification degree in any discipline. Graduates with relevant years of experience may apply.

Language Proficiency:  Good Written and Oral communication in native language and Hindi and English is a must.

Compensation: Between 5,00,000 to 7,00,000 INR CTC per Annum, basis experience and expertise.
