Reports to: Program Manager

Location: Ahmedabad, although the job will involve regular travel to program  locations.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Other benefits as per existing policies will be applicable after completion of probationary period.

Nature: This post is contractual in nature, i.e. renewable contract of two years (inclusive of 6 months probationary period).

Purpose of the post

In line with ACF's strategic plans and policy guidelines the post-holder will work under the direct supervision of Program Manager to initiate and develop a social process in communities, analyse community problems and take collective actions leading to solutions of community level problems, and to make that process self-sustainable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • He/ she shall be a part of the ACF team to coordinate and support different projects / initiatives / activities in the Livelihood domain.
  • Understand the felt need of communities and accordingly build, undertake and manage the interventions in the livelihood domain.   
  • Strengthening and capacity building of the SHG members for livelihood related activities.
  • Monitor program based on income generation activities and skill development trainings.
  • Review partner progress reports, analyze contents and provide feedback and take corrective measurement for improving output. 
  • Identify the cause of any reasonably delay in the achievement of milestones and propose corrective action.
  • Develop an effective communication network and build strong relationships with community stakeholders and NGOs.
  • Support Program Manager in preparation of communication materials e.g. thematic presentations and narratives for different stake holders.  
  • Ensures that program funds are utilized in accordance with approved activities and standard financial procedures.
  • Embark upon field visits to monitor projects, visit partners and accompany visitors/ delegations to highlight ACF Projects.
  • Take active participation in the preparation of Annual Program Plans and Budgets.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum Master’ degree in Social Sciences / Social Entrepreneurship or Post graduate in Rural Development. 
  • Diploma or certificate course in computer applications would be an added advantage.

 EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years demonstrated experience in community development program design and management.
  • Experience in NGO partnership management, program monitoring and evaluation and quality audit systems.
  • Excellent organisational planning and analytical skills, ability to prioritise a diverse and demanding workload, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Experience in a national agency of repute or international agency with focus on Skill Development / Livelihood would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in qualitative/ quantitative monitoring methodologies and analysis would be an added advantage.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • Strong analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of models towards sustainable programs and networking (including participatory methodologies) in lieu with Livelihood Programs.
  • Enthusiasm for working with grassroots communities and/or with social entrepreneurs in their field of livelihood and operation.  
  • Willingness to travel regularly, patience and have good sense of humour.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to analyze and disseminate information effectively.
  • Fluent in English and Hindi languages. Knowledge of Gujarati language would be an added advantage.  
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft office, Internet with an ability to use social media to expand outreach.
  • An understanding of disability issues.
