UNDP-AAI project on “Resilience building of the communities around Airports”

UNDP has been working in partnership with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) since 2002 on disaster risk management and preparedness. The Climate Change, Resilience and Energy programme at UNDP is supporting the national and state authorities in mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in development planning.

The new partnership with UNDP- Airports Authority of India (AAI) aims to work for the development challenges like improving the health services, education, community disaster preparedness in the lines of the national flagship programs to work towards increasing the coping capacity of the community in the vicinity of the Birsa Munda International Airport, Ranchi. The project will be implemented in collaboration with the office of the District Collector, Ranchi.

It is proposed to recruit a Project Associate to provide support in the implementation of the project in Ranchi. The Project Associate would work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator (Resilience) who will be placed in New Delhi.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serving as the main point of contact for the designated project and liaising with the state government to respond to project requirements;
  • Maintaining full knowledge of project issues, tracking expenditures and carefully monitoring overall award level budget;
  • Maintaining regular communication, through emails and calls, with UNDP office and state government throughout the course of the assignments facilitating smooth work implementation;
  • Work closely with partner organization which are on board to implement the various project related activities;
  • Assist in preparation of financial reports for donors in the approved format an interval;
  • Drafting technical notes, letters, responses, reports and other materials as required with respect to project implementation;
  • Assist the District/City level administration, National Coordinator and UNDP Energy and Environment Unit in interfacing with other vendors and responsible parties in connection with the implementation of the project activities as may be suggested by UNDP and flag deviations from the approved time schedules and delivery of outputs;
  • Contribute to effective qualitative and quantitative reporting and arrange appropriate documentation and dissemination of information;
  • Contribute to Knowledge management initiatives under the project;
  • Perform other related activities as assigned by the supervisors;
  • Organize and participate in technical and monitoring consultations as per UNDP requirements;
  • Any other related tasks assigned by UNDP

Required Skills and Experience


  • University degree in social sciences, public policy, management, environment and other relevant disciplines.


  • More than 2 years of experience in program management activities preferably in UN, Other International or Government Organizations
  • Experience of working in the field of Disaster Management & climate change is desirable
  • Additional experience in procurement of goods and services is desirable

Language Requirements:

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Hindi is essential.

Remuneration package starts at Rs. 52,809/- per month (taxable). UNDP also offers additional benefits which include medical insurance coverage and limited pension reimbursement for contract holder and encourages work-life balance.
