Job Responsibilities
The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst/Associate to work on research projects focused on trade, globalisation, regional economic integration, and development in South Asia. The position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Economics, with a strong specialisation in international trade, development economics, or related fields. The Research Analyst/Associate will support ongoing analytical work through data collection, cleaning, and analysis; literature reviews; background notes; and contributions to policy briefs, working papers, and presentations. Familiarity with applied econometrics and an aptitude to learn and use and verify AI tools for research, data analysis and visualisation, are essential.
The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, self-driven, and comfortable working independently while engaging closely with senior researchers. A strong interest in policy-relevant research, attention to detail, and the ability to translate quantitative analysis into clear insights are critical for this role. The position is offered on a one-year contractual basis, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and project requirements. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on high-impact research at the intersection of trade, development, globalisation, and regional economic cooperation, and to engage directly with contemporary policy debates in India and South Asia.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Economics from a recognised University.
Professional Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and Expertise:
- Familiarity with applied econometrics and an aptitude to learn and use and verify AI tools for research, data analysis and visualisation, are essential.
- Knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in, South Asia, will be an advantage.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to reports, memos, and presentations.
