About the Organization

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy at IIM Ahmedabad is dedicated to supporting contemporary research on financial markets and the economy within the broader economic context. A platform for knowledge dissemination is provided through seminars, conferences, media outreach, and other initiatives. The Centre is responsible for the production and management of key financial and economic databases, such as the Business Inflation Expectation Survey (BIES) and the IIMASFarmsIndia Agri Land Price Index (ISALPI). These databases are widely used by researchers and practitioners, offering valuable insights into financial markets and the Indian economic landscape. The Centre also works on developing and conducting firm-level surveys that aim to assess the business and economic landscape, further contributing to a comprehensive understanding of India's economic environment.

Job Description

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy (MCFME) at IIM Ahmedabad is hiring a fulltime Research Associate to support research on topical issues related to Indian and global financial markets and the broader economy. The role involves collecting and compiling financial and economic data from various sources, preparing analytical reports, research summaries, and presentations, conducting literature reviews, and assisting with academic and policy-oriented research projects. The Research Associate will work closely with faculty and researchers at the Centre to support ongoing studies and contribute to the development of high-quality research outputs.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields from toptier institutions with outstanding academic performance.
• Candidates with a Master’s or 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science with at least one year of experience in the finance industry will also be considered.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with sound knowledge of data analysis and econometric methods.
• Proficiency in software such as STATA, R, or Python is desirable.
• Familiarity with financial and economic databases (e.g., Prowess, Compustat, CEIC, IMF, World Bank) is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• A demonstrated interest in academic research; candidates planning to pursue a PhD are strongly encouraged to apply.
