Job Description
SFC invites applications for a Research Lead/Associate Fellow to work with its Climate Policy group. The candidate will be expected to support and manage ongoing work on climate policy in the domestic – and international – context. This will involve extensively studying the use of emissionseconomy modelling tools for identifying low-carbon development pathways, context-appropriate green industrialisation strategies for pursuing such low-carbon development, scaling up climate finance to realise these pathways, and engaging on topics such as carbon markets and other elements of long-term low-carbon development.
Applicants must have demonstrable research interests related to climate policy. This position will require the capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, in collaboration with and guidance from various SFC personnel. In addition, the candidate may be requested to contribute to SFC’s institutional activities, such as communications and outreach, as well as broader research discussions within SFC.
Job Responsibilities
Designing and leading research projects. This includes:
- Conducting literature reviews and original research
- Undertaking quantitative and qualitative data collection using varying research methods
- Drafting academic manuscripts, policy briefs, op-eds, and other forms of dissemination of research
- Assisting with ongoing project work, including engaging with stakeholders, presenting research ideas, and participating in discussions
- Contributing to broader SFC activities and potentially supporting junior colleagues as required
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Either of the following
- Master’s degree in disciplines related to development and environment, with minimum of 5 years of relevant work/research experience, including at least 1-2 publications
- PhD in disciplines related to development and environment, with at least 1-2 publications
- Demonstrated interest in at least 2-3 of: emissions-economy modelling, international climate policy, climate finance, carbon markets, green industrial policy
- Strong competence with MS-Office, including MS-Excel
- Ability to communicate and work with a team that draws from diverse disciplines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
