Job Description
The Senior Projects Officer (SPO) will be attached to the WWF-India Hyderabad office in Hyderabad, Telangana, and be based in Hyderabad Office and various field camps, as required, both within Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The primary role will be to anchor and advance WWF-India's programme activities in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, which will entail the following:
Job Responsibilities
Programme Implementation and Technical Support: Collaboratively design and implement biological surveys in key sites in the landscape with a focus on
- Wildlife monitoring
- Human-wildlife interactions
- Habitat assessment and recovery
- Protection efficacy
- Assessing corridors and strengthening connectivity and
- Conservation in private lands.
- Working with forest communities
- Training and capacity building
- Analyse data from the aforementioned surveys to produce timely conservation or management - relevant documents.
Networking, Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with supervisors (State Director, WWF-India Hyderabad Office), as well as Wildlife and Habitat team at WWF-India Secretariat for communicating progress and documenting progress with project activities.
- Interact regularly with various Govt. department(s), and community groups and other stakeholders for planning out and implementation of project activities and updating them with the progress as and when required.
- Analyse data and prepare technical reports as required. Also develop and publish scientific papers relevant to the various aspects of this study. Developing collaborations to bring out high-quality papers will be encouraged.
Programme Development
- The SPO will be responsible for assisting in preparing project proposals and strategies for conservation programmes for the two states.
- The candidate will be responsible for effective liaison with stakeholders including Govt. department(s), Institution(s), and NGOs for any issues pertaining to planning and implementation of project activities in the landscape.
Additional responsibilities:
- Support the Hyderabad Office team in education and outreach activities.
- Support in fundraising initiatives
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Wildlife Science, Ecology or related disciplines, with 2 years or more of experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and local language
- Ability to undertake fieldwork in remote areas
- Familiarity with population estimation and modelling animal-habitat relationships
- Strong interdisciplinary interests and ability to collaborate with diverse groups
- Ability to take independent charge of projects
