Job Description

The State Content and Training Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the English Program across multiple locations. Based at one location, the Associate serves as a key link between the English Team, program leadership, on-field English teaching staff, local government education departments, and school teachers, facilitating effective program delivery and continuous capacity building.

The role includes adapting and contextualising content, organising and facilitating teacher training, monitoring program implementation, providing field-level support to teachers, and supporting program review and improvement.

Job Responsibilities

Content Support and Adaptation

  • Support the adaptation of centrally developed English learning content to the local context and requirements.
  • Ensure content is relevant, practical, and aligned with the program’s pedagogical approach and state curriculum frameworks.
  • Provide input to improve content based on field realities and teacher feedback.

Capacity Building and Teacher Training

  • Organise and facilitate training workshops (online and offline) to build teachers’ capacity in teaching English as a second language.
  • Identify the professional development needs of teachers and support them in developing effective classroom practices.
  • Design and implement practical, inclusive, and context-sensitive training approaches.

Program Monitoring and Field Support

  • Conduct periodic field visits to monitor classroom practices, provide hands-on support to teachers, and document challenges and progress.
  • Support teachers in applying innovative instructional strategies and basic educational technology in the classroom.
  • Facilitate review meetings with state education officials and stakeholders to assess program progress.

Coordination and Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between the English Team, Pratham field teams, local government education departments, and English teachers.
  • Provide regular updates, program reports, and insights from the field to inform decision-making and course correction.
  • Foster constructive communication between all stakeholders to enable smooth program implementation.

Research and Documentation

  • Support the systematic documentation of field observations, program outcomes, and teacher development progress.
  • Assist in piloting new content or training approaches and provide feedback for continuous program improvement.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Required

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Education, English, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English and Kannada; knowledge of Hindi is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage teachers.
  • Good understanding of ESL pedagogy and willingness to learn about curriculum development.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to manage deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across program locations, including to low-resource and remote locations.
  • Commitment to Pratham’s mission and a desire to contribute to improving education quality.
  • Readiness to commit to Pratham for a period of 2-3 years

Preferred

  • Prior experience in content development, teacher training, or educational program implementation.
  • Experience in working with government education systems or non-profits.
  • Ability to communicate in Marathi, Tamil, or Telugu.

Salary

  • ₹32,000-₹36,000 per month (CTC); negotiable based on experience and skills.
  • Travel, food, and lodging costs for official travel outside the base location will be reimbursed as per Pratham’s policy.
