About the Livelihoods Programs
AIF’s Livelihoods program envisions a world where poor and vulnerable communities have access to dignified work opportunities, empowering them with sustainable livelihoods. Since 2006, the Livelihoods Program has directly and indirectly served 2.20 million people from vulnerable communities. Leveraging technology to provide financial and market linkages, knowledge, skills, and dignified work opportunities, the program helps the communities secure jobs, manage enterprises, and make a respectable living. Since its inception in 2006, through its flagship programs Market Aligned Skills Training (MAST) and Ability Based Livelihood Empowerment (ABLE), AIF Livelihoods has provided program support to 825,960 disadvantaged youth, women and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and impacted 343,727 livelihoods.
About the Project
Project Goal (2025-26): To skill and empower 200 OBC (Other backward caste) and EBC (Economical backward caste) candidates in identified domain skills and further align them with market needs and opportunities underemployment/self-employment pathways over a duration of one year.
Project Objectives:
- Designing and delivering training programs that cover fundamentals of sewing machine operation, machine components, stitch types, designing, cutting and sewing techniques
- To support in establishing and operating training/production centers in Yadgiri district to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural candidates.
- To provide training in Self employed tailor and Sewing Machine Operator, to identified 200 rural candidates under OBC (Other backward Caste) and EBC (Economically backward Caste
- To align income opportunities for minimum 70% skilled candidates by employment/self- employment support in local and neighborhood markets.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Designing and delivering training programs that cover fundamentals of sewing machine operation, machine components, stitch types, designing, cutting and sewing techniques
- To support in establishing and operating training/production centers in Yadgiri district to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural candidates.
- Support in Mobilization of the candidates from OBC and Economically weaker sections families to freeze the batches with full seating capacity
- To ensure training of eligible candidates for the Garment Industries related courses.
- Conduct post training follow-up of the trained service providers to provide onsite individualized mentoring support to reinforce skills learned at the initial training to ensure smooth certification of the skills imparted
- Conduct regular supportive supervision visits to facilities to identify gaps in the training imparted and to rectify them with the help of seniors and peers to improve the quality.
- Observe and biannually evaluate trained individuals.
- Encourage and collect feedback from trained staff using the feedback form.
- Maintain 90% attendance in batch
- Maintain 100% Pass percentage of each batch in External Assessment.
- To ensure timely Receiving and delivery of minimum required pieces of work order from Buyer on a monthly basis.
- Work with female beneficiaries for their home run TPC setup and support them in loans and market linkages.
- Any other task as assigned by the line manager from time to time.
- To ensure tracking of self-employed candidates for two years.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Any bachelor Degree/Diploma/ ITI program from Recognized University.
- Strong and updated knowledge about Dress making, Apparel, Stitching.
- Skilled in 21st century employability skills training delivery
- Well informed of labor market trends, employer needs and best practices in career services
- Kannada and English communication skills –both written and verbal
- Proven experience as apparel sector, Garment industries
- Should have a flare for teaching & will also be required to guide the students through their project.
Other: Monthly fees commensurate with experience.
