The main aim of Apnalaya is to enable underserved people to improve health, livelihood and gender relations. Working with individuals, groups and communities, it tries to empower the disadvantaged to overcome the many social, political and economic barriers they face, and to help them access opportunities that lead to a better quality of life.

Job Description: 

The Programme Manager contributes to the overall development of the programme and is responsible for the management of staff and resources involved in rolling out the Adolescent Project. The Programme Manager will have expertise and skills to design and run interventions for adolescents from underserved communities with a perspective that is informed by gender and other social rubrics. 

Duties and Responsibilities include: 

  • Contribute to the overall development of the Programme and support in drafting concept notes, project proposals
  • Support implementation of Adolescent programme and contribute to capacity building of staff, team building processes, and mentoring of adolescents
  • Demonstrate an understanding of gender-based inequalities, and work to help beneficiaries enjoy greater gender parity
  • Deconstruct gender related norms / debunk theories for easy comprehension at community level 
  • Engage beneficiaries in contributing to gender equitable behaviors, relationships, systems and structures
  • Facilitate training sessions, mentor volunteers, maintain reports for the same and monitor the programme closely
  • Manage the Programme ensuring responsibility for deliverables, their timelines and quality, and monitor the work of the staff on a weekly basis
  • Compile data (quantitative and qualitative) from all various programmatic interventions and generate reports as required. Partnerships and Donor relations Coordinate with Donors and partners for operational and logistical requirements
  • Ensure adherence to timelines in submission of donor reports and other documents as required
  • Build and maintain relationship with existing and potential donors.

Networking and Advocacy 

  • Undertake networking and advocacy tasks as decided by the Organization 
  • Conduct and facilitate meetings with parents and school authorities

Develop and manage partnership with NGOs and other stake holders; maintain updated data-sheet of all the Networking and Advocacy partnerships

Team Management  

  • Identify capacity building needs, develop and facilitate relevant interventions for team members and prepare reports for the interventions and processes undertaken
  • Review and provide guidance, mentor and support the staff on their work and their interactions with stakeholders in accordance with organizational goals
  • All HR and administration related issues are to be monitored by the Programme Manager and reported to the Program Head on a regular basis.

Budgetary Responsibilities:

  • Development of the first-cut of the annual budget and management of the Programme Budget that includes: monthly projections and monitoring of expenses, due-diligence and compliance with Organizational norms 

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and participate in any organizational initiative as decided upon by the Organization
  • Periodically share reports, stories of success and challenges with the Organizations

Qualification and Skills

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work with sufficient exposure to Gender Studies;  minimum 5years’ experience in working with issues related to youth and gender
  • Proficiency in English with excellent writing skills and proficiency in spoken Hindi is a pre-requisite
  • Computer proficiency in MS-Office
