About The Award:
Sandvik has strategically embraced gender, diversity and inclusion in its operating philosophy. Taking the gender philosophy forward, the Sandvik India Gender Awards underscores Sandvik’s commitment towards Sustainable Development Goal-5 by promoting gender equality in the local communities, businesses, stakeholders as well as the customers. The unique award platform intends to recognize individuals committed to foster and promote an inclusive approach in the communities, challenge and overcome conscious and sub-conscious bias, develop a gender-balanced leadership and help women achieve their ambition.
The Sandvik India Gender Awards were oﬃcially launched in March 2016. The first year of Sandvik India Gender Awards was 2017 with the focus on exemplary leadership in promoting gender equality. The award seeks to identify individuals or representatives of organizations committed towards supporting gender equality in areas such as Health, Employment, Entrepreneurship, Education, Sports, Art and Culture, Social Changes and Sanitation.
In the second edition of 2018, 375 applications were received under eight diﬀerent sectors namely, individual, community-based organization, not-for profit, social enterprise, government, academia, corporate policy and corporate CSR. The selection process of shortlisting mentoring and awarding is spread over 3 rounds. Post the initial screening of applications the jury panel shortlisted 24 finalists. These finalists were mentored by the industry experts and presented their proposal to the grand jury.
The grand jury members were Ms. Ulrika Sundberg, the Consulate General of Sweden to Mumbai, Ms. Sara Larsson, General Manager of Swedish Chamber of Commerce India and Mr.Kamal Singh, Executive Director of Global Compact Network India (UNGC).
The winning proposals of the award platform are financially supported by Sandvik.
