Under the Executive Programme of Cooperation in the fields of Science and Technology for the years 2015-17, the Ministry of Scientific Research (MoSR), of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, India, invite Egyptian and Indian universities, Research Centres and Institutes to submit joint proposals for scientific and technological research and development projects
Submission of joint research projects by researchers of both Countries is requested, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India. Each researcher may submit one project only. Financing will be granted exclusively for the exchange of researchers holding Egyptian nationality and Indian nationality. The lead applicants should be scientists/ faculty members working in regular capacity in universities, academic institutes and national research and development laboratories/ institutes.
Priority Research Areas:
Projects may be submitted in the following priority research area Information & Communication Technology; Nano-Technology for biomedical Sciences (especially drug delivery and tissue engineering) and Energy applications (especially fuel cells, CSP and self cleaning PV; Biotechnology;
Presentation Of Projects:
The identical project in prescribed format must be submitted by the Egyptian and Indian co-ordinators to their respective administrations at the addresses given below (see section 6). Projects submitted to only one of the two Parties will not be considered. The project proposals, covering a period of two years, must be drafted in English, signed by the two project co-ordinators, and head of the institutions. Both Egyptian Co-ordinators and their Co-partner should be affiliated to the same Institution.
Project Evaluation And Selection At The National And Bilateral Level:
The projects will be initially evaluated at the national level. Subsequently, a joint assessment will be carried out by representatives of the two Parties in order to select the projects admitted for funding. The projects will be assessed according to the following jointly agreed criteria:
Qualifications and experience of research teams; Methodology, approach, strategy, structure, and documentation; Sufficiency of existing and proposed research infrastructure; Level of originality and innovation; Social and developmental added value for Egypt and India; Purpose of cooperation among the research teams; Exploitation of results; Dissemination of results.
Preference will be given to projects that involve industrial counterparts, and/or that benefit from third parties’ funding (such as public and private research institutes and organizations).
How to Apply:
Submission Of Joint Projects:
The Egyptian and Indian co-ordinators must submit their proposals to the entities responsible for the implementation of the Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Co-operation in the two Countries. Projects that have not be ensubmitted in both Countries in accordance with the above-mentioned procedures will not be considered.
Procedures applicable to Indian researchers:
- Submit their proposals on format available at www.onlinedst.gov.in by 5:30pm on March 31, 2019.
- After registration, they should move to scheme and format section where details about this call would be available in the International Cooperation (bilateral).
- An email acknowledging receipt of the application will be provided to the applicant in 3-5 working days.
- Applicants are also requested to submit one hard copy to DST by April 10, 2019on address given below.
- Applicants should ensure that their applications with identical titles has been submitted by their Egyptian partners by due date.
- Only applications endorsed by the competent authority will be accepted.
