Ph.D. in Sociology 2021-22

The Department of Sociology, University of Mumbai, has the distinction of being the oldest centre of teaching and research in Sociology and Anthropology in India. In addition, it is the oldest Department in the University of Mumbai. The Department was set up in 1919 with an eminent British sociologist and town planner Sir Patrick Geddes as the first Professor and Head. Over the last nine decades the department has made pioneering and significant contributions to teaching and research in Sociology in South Asia.

Admission will be available to the subject to condition of University Grants Commission and University of Mumbai guidelines and Govt. of Maharashtra guidelines for reservation. In addition to this thw availability of seats for admission will be declared before the interviews are conducted.

All interested have to apply/register online (the portal URL is: uomphd.mu.ac.in). The process of online registration will start form 24/5/2021 to 30 June 2021 and the registration fee will be Rs.200 for open category and Rs.100 for Reservation category.
