About the Organization

The primary objective of the University is to evolve and impart comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education that is socially relevant. Through this education, we aim to promote legal and ethical values and foster the rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India. Furthermore, the University works toward dissemination of legal knowledge and its role in national development, so that the ability to analyse and present contemporary issues of public concern and their legal implications for the benefit of the public is improved. These processes strive to promote legal awareness in the community and to achieve political, social and economic justice.

Many believe that the path of liberalization we embarked upon in the early 90s unleashed India’s potential. Undoubtedly the country has undergone vast changes in all spheres and we see a more confident India asserting itself on the global stage. However, this progress has come with very significant challenges to the country. India’s various social classes are yet to be assimilated; their participation in the process of governance remains fractured. Cumulative progress needs to be fair and equitable. And integral to that is a legal system that empowers the marginalised, is just and fair in letter and spirit, and most importantly, does not use the law as a tool of oppression.

About the Conference

Journal of National Law University Delhi is the flagship journal of National Law University Delhi. The journal seeks to provide a platform for engaging in multi-disciplinary and critical legal discussions on themes of law, society, and justice. We encourage academics in law and cognate disciplines to contribute to the Journal by revisiting and reimagining the boundaries of law through innovations in method and form.

It is guided by an editorial committee and an advisory board, consisting of legal luminaries from around the world. Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court is the ex officio Patron-in-Chief of the Journal. The previous issues of the journal are available in digital format through different databases including HeinOnline.

Editorial Policy

  • Only original and unpublished work must be submitted for consideration for JNLUD. Author(s) must take particular care that their work does not infringe on the rights of third parties and that they have obtained necessary permissions for cited work. If there are more than one author,
  • All submissions would be scrutinised for plagiarism. Plagiarised works would be rejected.
  • JNLUD is currently unable to accept submissions from students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies. In such instances it invites students to make their submission to the NLUD Journal of Legal Studies. However, submissions from research scholars including doctoral scholars would be considered.
  • JNLUD adheres to the Open Access Policy. This means that all articles published in the Journal would be made available on the Journal’s website without any time limit and free of charge.
  • All content published in the Journal is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
  • While all efforts would be made to inform the corresponding author of the progress of the submission through various stages of review, in view of the number of submissions that the journal receives, individualised response may not be possible in each instance.
  • Decision of the Editorial Board on all matters shall be final.

How to Apply

JNLUD welcomes original and previously unpublished articles, notes and comments, and book reviews for publication in its upcoming issue (Vol. 9, 2022-23). Submissions for the upcoming issue will be accepted on a rolling basis till March 15, 2023. As it is important to meet the publication schedule, please note that this deadline cannot be extended. All submissions must only be made online (here). Articles mailed directly to JNLUD email id will not be considered. After initial screening, short-listed submissions will go through a blind peer review process and the final selection will be based on the outcome of the peer review process.

Important guidelines regarding the submissions:

  • Articles are typically of around 6000-8000 words including footnotes.
  • Notes and Comments are short pieces (of less than 5000 words). These have a narrower scope of inquiry than articles and may include analysis of recent case laws, legislation or policy.
  • Book reviews are generally around 2500 words. Successful submissions to this category will critically analyse the ideas and themes explored in the book instead of merely providing a summary of its main arguments.
  • Journal of National Law University Delhi adheres to the OSCOLA citation style. Authors are requested to follow the same.
  • Please submit your manuscript in MS-Word document format only.
  • Relevant details of the author and their affiliation would be captured only through a Google Form. The submission, therefore, should not contain any reference to the identity of the author in order to enable anonymous screening and peer review. Each submission (except Book Review)) should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words and 5 Key words

Closing Date of Submission: March 15, 2023
