Title: Call for Papers - National Conference on Challenges in Groundwater Development and Management (CGDAM 2020)

Deadline: 25th February 2020

About the Institute

National Institute of Technology Raipur situated in the capital of Chhattisgarh, has proven to be “Avant-grade” in the field of science and technology over past few decades in this region. With sweet memory of foundation ceremony by our president Hon'ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 14th September 1956, the institute started with two departments namely Metallurgical and Mining Engineering.

Objectives

The objective of this conference is to bring together the researchers working in various fields of hydrogeology for solving issues related to groundwater development and management. It will provide a good opportunity to the young researcher to present and discuss their recent innovation to a diverse audience as well as practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the fields of groundwater development and management.

Topics to be covered

The increasing dependence on ground water as a reliable source of water has resulted in indiscriminate extraction in various parts of the country without due regard to the recharging capacities of aquifers and other environmental factors. On the other hand, there are areas in the country, where ground water development is suboptimal in spite of the availability of sufficient resources, and canal command areas suffering from problems of water logging and soil salinity due to the gradual rise in ground water levels. The highly uneven distribution and its utilization make it impossible to have single management strategy for the country as a whole. Any strategy for scientific management of ground water resources should involve a combination of supply side and demand side measures depending on the regional setting

Theme/Scope

  • Groundwater Development & Management
  • Water Conservation
  • Remote Sensing and GIS for Sustainable
  • Groundwater Development
  • Impact of Climate Change On Groundwater Resources
  • Issues related to Groundwater Quality
  • Surface water related issues
