Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) is a leading research institute in Nainital, Uttarakhand which Coordinates: 29.022°N 79.027°Especializes in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Atmospheric Sciences. They are an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, the institute is situated at Manora Peak (1,951 m (6,401 ft)), about 9 km from Nainital, a popular hill station.The astronomical observatory is open to the public during working days on afternoons. For night viewing however, three - four days on moonlight nights are fixed and prior permission is needed.
Description:
Atmospheric Aerosols, known as particulate matter are solid or liquid particles suspended in the air. These aerosols originate from both natural (sea salt, desert dust, volcanic eruption and forest fire) and anthropogenic sources (fossil fuels, biomass and biofuel burning, vehicular emissions, industrial emissions etc).
In view of the above, the ARIES, Nainital and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University (HNBGU) Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal, plan to jointly organize a three day online International Conference on “Aerosol Air Quality, Climate Change and Impact on Water Resources and Livelihoods in the Greater Himalayas” on 14 - 16 September 2020.
