The Habitats Trust Grants is an annual initiative by The Habitats Trust (THT) to encourage and appreciate the bolstering efforts of conservationists by providing them critical support, through strategic partnerships and collaborations, to make their work more sustainable and scalable. The Trust was founded by Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, and Shikhar Malhotra, Vice Chairman and CEO of HCL Healthcare, with the aim to support organizations and conservationists who have dedicated their lives to securing the country’s vibrant and lesser-known flora and fauna.

CSRBOX invites you for the The Habitats Trust Grants Virtual Symposiums 2021 being organized by The Habitats Trust and CSRBOX (co-host), on Wednesday, 24th of March 2021. Through the four-part symposiums of 1 hour sessions each we intend to bring together Individuals, NGOs, researchers and policy makers on one platform, such that they can interact, develop regional as well as sectoral understanding about conservation of sustainable ecosystems and lesser-known species in the wild.

You will learn about the grants in detail, their eligibility criteria, compliance required, application timeline and evaluation process. Apart from this you will also get to meet previous grant recipients to understand their journey and interact with them about your concerns.

We have also invited top-notch experts from the field who will help bridge gaps in understanding pertinent themes such as conserving the lesser-known species of the Western Ghats, economic valuation of nature (naturenomics) & community forest management in the North East, role of technology in conservation and overall efforts towards saving the lesser-knowns.

The Habitats Trust provides grants in the following four categories:

For Organizations:

  1. The Strategic Partnership Grant (35 Lakhs)- This flagship grant will primarily reach out to mid to large sized field work oriented organizations to create a two-way partnership for the common cause of conservation. This grant is directed towards the running costs of on-ground projects. The grant should enable the creation of a sustainable and replicable conservation model to address some of the key conservation issues in India.
  2. Lesser-known Habitats Grant (INR 30 lakhs)- This first of its kind initiative aims to secure and regenerate the overlooked and unaddressed habitats of the country that are in urgent need of conservation attention. Through the lesser-known habitats grant, we hope to support organizations working to secure these vital habitats and bring them into the limelight.
  3. Lesser-known Species Grant (INR 25 lakhs)- This unique grant aims to support conservationists and organisations working to secure a future for our lesser-known endangered species of fauna and flora.

For Individuals:

  1. Conservation Hero Grant (INR 15 lakhs)- This grant aims to recognize grassroots conservationists working in individual capacity and to champion the work these conservation heroes do by providing them a platform to expand their activities and garner further support for their activities.
