Nabha Power Hands Over Pillar Less Multi-Utility Hall to GSS Bhappal

Nabha Power Limited (NPL), which operates 2x700MW Rajpura Thermal Power Plant, has handed over a large multi-utility hall (pillar less) to Government Senior Secondary School (GSS) in Bhappal. The hall will serve various purposes, including conducting board exams, live video streaming sessions, online learning, and cultural events for the benefit of nearly 250 students from seven adjacent villages. The Principal of GSS Bhappal expressed gratitude to Nabha Power for promoting education in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr S.K. Narang, the Chief Executive of Nabha Power, said, “Promoting formal education, especially in rural areas, is one of the company's primary objectives under its CSR initiatives. The company has provided scholarships to meritorious girls from rural areas to pursue higher studies, introduced special teachers in various government schools to support the academic progress of over 400 students, leading to an increase in enrolments and retention in government schools.”

He said, “Nabha Power has also undertaken major renovation projects in over 40 government schools, provided furniture in around 25 schools, set up computer labs and supported libraries by providing books”. The company also distributed science kits to develop students' interest in sciences & technology.

According to a social audit conducted by the Institute for Development and Communication, Chandigarh, Nabha Power's initiatives in promoting education have resulted in significant improvement in education levels in various villages surrounding the plant. The audit report specifically mentioned that the company's support for government schools in terms of better infrastructure and teachers has enhanced students' performance in subjects such as English & Mathematics and increased enrolments in government schools.
