Title: Rainforest Action Network Protect an Acre Grant

Organization: Rainforest Action Network

Deadline: Applications can be submitted at any time

Grant Amount: 5000 USD

About:

RAN preserves forests, protects the climate and upholds human rights by challenging corporate power and systemic injustice through frontline partnerships and strategic campaigns. RAN established Protect- an-Acre (PAA) to protect the world’s forests and support the rights of their inhabitants through small grants to traditionally under-funded organizations and communities in forest regions.

Criteria:

  • Although grants are made in all regions and unsolicited proposals are welcome, geographic priority areas are Southeast Asia and South and North America
  • Projects emphasizing grassroots organizing, education, training and capacity building to develop skills, increase awareness and/or build alliances towards protection of forests and increased community control over local resources
  • Projects emphasizing community-driven, strategic use of non-violent direct action that supports local resistance to destructive development activities such as logging, oil extraction, dam construction and the expansion of monoculture plantations.
  • Projects supporting Indigenous communities securing or maintaining legal land title recognition

Title: IDRC-CRDI COVID-19 Global South Artificial Intelligence & Data Innovation Program 2020

Organization: International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

Deadline: 28th June, 2020

Grant Amount: 1250000 USD

About:

IDRC funds research in developing countries to promote growth, reduce poverty, and drive large-scale positive change. The Program aims to support multidisciplinary research to deepen understanding of how to develop and scale responsible evidence-based artificial intelligence (AI) and data science approaches that support COVID-19 response and recovery in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Criteria:

  • Research consortia and individual organizations may apply, with preference in selection for those based in Low and Middle Income countries.
  • For the purposes of this call, research consortia are defined as multidisciplinary research collaborations and networks made up of multiple organizations. Preference will be given to research consortia that demonstrate an ability to work across different contexts and directly with governments.

Title: India-Portugal Joint Scientific Research & Technology Development Projects 2020

Organization: Department of Science & Technology (DST)

Deadline: 30th June, 2020

Grant Amount: 100 Euro

About:

DST was established with the objective of promoting and to play the role of a nodal department for organizing, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country. The aim of this joint call is to support the development of scientific and technological cooperation between Indian and Portuguese researchers and to strengthen the scientific partnership between research groups from each party by establishing bilateral research networks, enhancing research cooperation and promoting the exchange of knowledge between Indian and Portuguese scientists.

Criteria:

  • Scientists/Faculty Members working in a regular capacity in recognized universities/deemed universities, academic institutes, and national research & development laboratories/ institutes can apply as Principal Investigator (PI).
  • The Indian PI should not be retiring during the proposed duration of the project.
  • The Indian scientists who are involved in any capacity in the implementation of two or more ongoing projects (not expected to be completed by December 2020), is supported by the international division of DST are not eligible to be a member of the research team.
  • The proposal should include research partners as PI and CO-PI from Portugal research institutes/ universities with clear demarcation of objectives to be carried out by both research teams.
  • In order to qualify for such funding, investigators are required to have a concrete and sound research proposal targeting the interest of both nations on any of the above-mentioned research areas.

Title: Solar Irrigation for Agricultural Resilience (SoLAR) Innovation Fund (IF)

Organization: International Water Management Institute (IWMI)

Deadline: 30th June, 2020

About:

IWMI is a non-profit, scientific research organization focusing on the sustainable use of water and land resources in developing countries. The SoLAR Innovation Fund (IF) aims to support the development and testing of technological, financial and institutional innovations to address the constraints and challenges of upscaling solar irrigation, with a special focus on the problems faced by small-scale, marginal, and women farmers

Criteria:

  • Innovation fund grantees will be selected from an open competitive process.
  • The SoLAR IF Grant is open to all nongovernmental organizations, universities, technical institutes, research institutes, public and private sector enterprises and research laboratories, and government agencies, including local government institutions
  • Applicants must already have the required registrations and permits needed to work in the country they select, and proof of such registration/permit must be sent together with the application letter.

Title: COVID-19 Emergency Fund for Journalists

Organization: National Geographic

About:

National Geographic is the official magazine of the National Geographic Society. This fund will place particular emphasis on delivering news to underserved populations, particularly where there is a dearth of evidence-based information getting to those who need it.

Criteria:

  • Applications are invited from writers, photographers, videographers, audio journalists, cartographers, filmmakers, and data visualization experts to apply for this funding.
  • Journalists should seek placement of this work within their local media ecosystems and must attribute their support to the National Geographic Society’s Emergency Fund for Journalists.
  • However, you do not need to submit any formal commitments of publication or letters of support from editors or publishers

Title: COVID-19 Relief Grant Program 2020

Organization: The International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading Foundation (ISTAT)

ISTAT Foundation was founded to support individuals and institutions that promote the advancement of commercial aviation and humanitarianism. The COVID-19 pandemic has, and will continue to have, massive implications for the travel, tourism and aviation industry.  Therefore, in addition to the Foundation’s 2020 planned annual giving through their Scholarship, Internships, Education, Grants and Humanitarian Programs has committed to support global COVID-19 relief

Criteria:

  • The Foundation is seeking applications from established, registered non-profit, non-governmental organizations worldwide that are directly responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, have an aviation connection and a strong financial need.
  • Applicants are able to apply for a minimum of US$25,000 and a maximum of US$100,000.
  • Priority will be given to organizations that are providing support to regions that have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 virus but may have limited indigenous sources of funding such as Africa, Asia and South America.
