Title: TWAS Young Affiliates 2020

Organization: The World Academy of Sciences Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Partner (TWAS-SAREP)

TWAS-SAREP promotes and profile the activities of TWAS and its affiliated organisations in the region. This includes issuing of grants and awards, as well as enabling networking among TWAS fellows in Africa. Every year, the five TWAS Regional Partners each select up to 10 scientists to be Young Affiliates for a period of five years as well as provide feedback to TWAS on how the Academy can respond to the needs of young scientists in developing countries.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible, the nominated scientists must have PhD, be aged 40 or less on 1st January of the year in which they are selected, living and working in a developing country for at least the past three years and have an excellent track record of at least 10 international publications in peer reviewed journals.
  • Nominations are invited from TWAS and AAS fellows, Members of National Academies and fellows, Members of Young Academies of Science in the region, Research Institutions, Research Councils and Universities in the region. The nomination of women is encouraged.

Title: Biozentrum PhD Fellowships Program 2020

Organization: Biozentrum - University of Basel

The Biozentrum is the largest department at the University of Basel’s Faculty of Science. The Biozentrum encourages talented, ambitious and highly motivated young scientists from all over the world to apply for the prestigious and sought after fellowships offered by the Biozentrum Basel International PhD Program.

Eligibility:

  • You must hold or expect soon a university degree that qualifies you for a PhD program at the University of Basel (MSc and equivalent).
  • Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor degree, typically from outside the Bologna system, are also eligible to apply.
  • These will be able to complete a Master’s program on a fast-track at the University of Basel as part of their fellowship.
  • If you have already enrolled at the Biozentrum or plan to start your PhD thesis before September 1, or respectively March 1, of the same year as the open call, you are no longer eligible to apply.

Title: Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers 2020

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes international academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from Germany and from abroad. In providing Humboldt Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enables highly-qualified scientists and scholars from abroad who are just embarking on their academic careers and who completed their doctorates less than four years ago1 to spend extended periods of research (6–24 months) in Germany.

Eligibility:

  • Doctorate or comparable academic degree (Ph.D., C.Sc. or equivalent), completed less than four years prior to the date of application. Candidates who have nearly completed their doctoral degrees are eligible to apply provided that they submit the manuscript of their dissertation or publications containing the results of their dissertation, however, at the earliest, 6 months prior to the completion of their dissertation.
  • Academic publications reviewed according to international standards and printed in journals and/or by publishing houses.
  • Confirmation that research facilities are available and mentoring agreement and a detailed expert’s statement by an academic host at a research institution in Germany.

Title: ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) 2020

Organization: Department of Science & Technology - Govt. of India

Deadline: 30th June, 2020

About:

DST plays a pivotal role in promotion of science & technology in the country. India S&T Collaboration started formally in 1996 with establishment of ASEAN India S&T working Group (AIWGST). Initially, the collaborative ASEAN-India S&T activities were supported through ASEAN India Fund (AIF).

Eligibility:

  • Applicant should be working / studying and / or affiliated to any national R&D or academic institution in his/ her home ASEAN Member country. The application should be endorsed by the Head of his/ her institution confirming that if selected, he/ she will be sanctioned leave for the Fellowship period and will join his/ her duties back in the institution on completion of the Fellowship in India.
  • The upper age limit for the applicant is 45 years as on date of submission of application.
  • The Applicants who have already availed Research Training Fellowship(RTF) are not eligible to apply again.
