About the Organization:

EKOenergy is an international not-for-profit ecolabel for energy (renewable electricity as well as renewable gas, heat and cold). In addition to being renewable, the energy sold with the EKOenergy label fulfils additional sustainability criteria and finances projects that combat energy poverty. This way, the EKOenergy ecolabel brings additionality to renewable energy certificates such as Guarantees of Origin (GOs), RECs and I-RECs. Buying EKOenergy is simple, as we have licensed sellers around the world. It is possible to use EKOenergy for your home or for your company.

Funding for solar and wind energy projects in developing countries

In order to bring additionally to renewable energy purchases and help realize SDG 7 (affordable, clean energy for all), the EKOenergy Eco label raises funds for new renewable energy projects in developing countries and regions.

For each MWh of EKOenergy-labelled energy sold, their licensed sellers pay 0.10 € to EKOenergy’s Climate Fund. These contributions go to carefully selected renewable electricity projects aimed at alleviating energy poverty in developing countries and regions. All financed projects are managed by experienced organizations and are implemented in cooperation with local NGOs.

  • How do you plan to communicate about the project? How will you communicate at the local level, in the country where the project is being implemented? And how can you help us share the news about your project towards energy consumers in general and users of EKOenergy-labelled energy in particular?
