About the Organization

The NIHR was established in 2006 to "create a health research system in which the NHS supports outstanding individuals, working in world-class facilities, conducting leading-edge research focused on the needs of patients and the public".

Since that time, we have transformed research in and for the NHS and helped to shape the health and social care research landscape more broadly.

Working in partnership with the NHS, universities, local government, other research funders, patients and the public, we fund, enable and deliver world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth.

We are funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. Our work focuses on early translational research, clinical research and applied health and social care research.

About the Grant

The NIHR is pleased to launch a sixth Research and Innovation for Global Health Transformation (RIGHT) call that will support targeted research to prevent, treat and manage multiple long-term conditions in low and middle income countries.

The NIHR is seeking applications to RIGHT call 6 for programmes of applied health research that focus on the development and evaluation of interventions and strategies for improved management of multiple long-term conditions.

This funding opportunity is open to lead applicants from UK or LMIC institutions.

RIGHT typically awards funding of £1-5 million (maximum of £5 million) for research projects with a duration of 3-5 years.

Proposal and Partnership Development Awards -

Applicants can apply for a Proposal and Partnership Development Award (PPDA) in conjunction with their RIGHT 6 Stage 1 application.

PPDAs were established to support partnership development and the preparation of a RIGHT Stage 2 application providing funding of up to £10,000. Applicants that are successful at RIGHT Stage 1 and invited to submit a RIGHT Stage 2 application are eligible to receive a PPDA.

Applicant webinar -

Two webinars for applicants to RIGHT 6 will be held to provide information about the call, remit, and eligibility. Both webinars will take place on Tuesday 11 October 2022. The morning session will be held from 10:00-12:00, and the afternoon session from 14:00-16:00.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit their RIGHT Call 6 Stage 1 application via the Research Management System (RMS). The call will close at 13:00 UK time on Wednesday 14 December 2022.

Please note all new users need to be validated to access applications which takes up to 48 hours upon registration. The deadline for RMS registrations is 30 November 2022.
