Villgro, formerly known as Rural Innovations Network, is India’s oldest and foremost social enterprise incubator. Villgro funds, mentors and incubates early-stage, innovation-based social enterprises that impact the lives of India’s poor.

 

About the Grant:

Villgro along with Hindustan Unilever Foundation (HUF) is looking to support scalable solutions that can help address India’s water challenges. The 2030 Water Resources Group estimates that if India continues to consume water as per current rates, we will have half the water we need by 2030.  Agriculture accounts for 80% of our freshwater use and is almost 2X the amount used by comparable countries to grow one unit of food. To solve these problems we need innovative and scalable solutions.

With this in mind, they aim to build a dedicated portfolio of entrepreneurs who are solving for a spectrum of water-related challenges for the collective good. Some solution spaces that the portfolio aims to address are: 

They are already incubating some start-ups in the area of Water Management Solutions. They are currently calling for applications that fall into our second focus area – Farmer support and incentives for responsible water use. 

The selected entrepreneurs will receive INR 50 Lacs grant funding, Mentoring, Technical Assistance and  Access to Markets. The last day to submit your application is 10th July 2020.
