EOI – Advocacy for Importance of Girl Child through Evidence Generation and Mass Media Campaign

We partner with governments, health experts and local communities to build the skills and systems that guarantee a healthier future for women and families. Through our partnerships, we are revolutionizing health care for the world’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people. In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, and pre-service nursing and midwifery education etc.

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) is working with USAID India mission to improve partnerships and increase capacity and commitment of local organizations to advance novel solutions or existing, proven innovations to tackle persistent FP & reproductive health (FP/RH) issues of young population. Jhpiego in coordination with USAID India mission will select few local organizations in state of Jharkhand through an open and competitive selection process to work around key theme and will issue fixed-amount awards (FAAs) to these local organizations.

The goal is to provide funding paired with technical and capacity development assistance (TCDA) to allow these local partners to accept, manage, and deliver on ever growing sums of donor funds, so as to eventually graduate to receiving direct funding from USAID. The local organizations selected to receive sub-awards will have expressed an interest in and commitment to participating in their own organizational and technical capacity development. MCGL will assist the organizations with self-assessments and provide both technical and organizational capacity development to them in areas jointly identified.

Jhpiego invites EOI from interested local organizations to work in selected districts of Jharkhand on the below key objectives but not limited to:

• Design and conduct a small KAP study to understand the perceptions of stakeholders related to value of girl child, knowledge about the Pre-Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act and awareness about government schemes for the girl child.
• Document case studies around the issue of strong son preference leading to imbalance in social milieu
• By using folk theatre, street theatre, wall writings, etc., plan and implement a mass media campaign promoting the importance of girls and challenging social norms.

Time period: Contract with selected organization will be for 12 months.
