WaterAid and WASH 

In India, WaterAid works with communities in rural and urban areas through partners. We have reached millions of people with these three essentials – clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene – enabling communities to unlock their potential to break free from the cycle of poverty and to change lives for good. In order to ensure clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. They should infact be a normal part of daily life but they are not. And that is what WaterAid India is trying to achieve by working around – drinking water security; Urban and School WASH; Rural Sanitation and WASH in health and nutrition.

WaterAid in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra has a strategic position in the States with long experience of working with Government and CSOs in the field with communities and institutions. In our interventions across themes in the region, WaterAid teams often use videos as a means of communicating and sharing – knowledge, best practices and also for training of communities on key concepts related to the project/projects. WaterAid would like to engage an agency/consultant who would assist us develop videos and short films in context of our interventions on building water security and WASH initiatives.

Objective

  • The objective of this assignment is for agency/consultant to research and develop video stories/ learning modules on topics provided by WAI for communicating and sharing learnings on specified topics with the communities in areas of intervention.
  • These videos may also be captured in context of sharing success stories of various initiatives taken in the project – so as to promote best practices and depict impact of our interventions.
  • These video stories /films will also highlight the unique approaches that are used by the WAI project teams to achieve results. It will also discuss in details steps that can be taken to replicate these interventions by other similar organizations.
  • These video stories /films are to discuss clear practical examples of how approaches used in implementation of the projects generate results.
  • Finally, the video stories /films should attempt to show the impact that these projects are making on their targeted beneficiaries.
  • WaterAid will brief and guide the agency about the main messages and type of video/ short film to be used in the videos in accordance with the standards, norms and procedures of WaterAid. Therefore, the agency is expected to hold meetings with relevant WaterAid staff in order to meet the expectations of the team. WaterAid will provide the necessary guidelines and will also closely be involved in the script writing, editing and decision process.

Scope of Work

  • Review WAI brand guidelines understand the context in which the case stories are to be developed.
  • Follow WAI standards on capturing and documentation of case studies.
  • Understand the criteria of video/film development in discussion with WaterAid representative.
  • Identify topics to be covered in the script, duration of the video, shooting location, resolution, narration contents in consultation with WaterAid
  • Develop script of the short film/animated film/ success stories and share with WaterAid for approvals.

Suggestive topics Video stories/ films need to be developed to depict success stories and training/ learning materials on key topicson the following themes:

  • Drinking Water Sanitation
  • Urban WASH
  • School WASH
  • WASH in Health and Nutrition
  • Rural Sanitation

Qualification and competence of the Expert

  • The ideal candidate/agency for this assignment should have at least 3 years of experience of film making.
  • Working on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services and earlier films made in the context would be an added advantage.
  • Worked on similar assignments in the past – experience with government projects/ international NGOs would be preferred.

Duration:

The consultant would be engaged for ………….. which would include travel and shooting.

Fees

INR ……… would be paid for ….. days a month. Travel and stay will be reimbursed by the organization as per actuals. Given the risks associated with COVID-19, the consultant may use private taxi for travel.
