RFP - To Document the UN in India’s UNSDF Achievements and Key Results in 7 States and the North-East Region

About the Organization:

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network. They advocate for change and connect countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life for them. They provide expert advice, training and grants support to developing countries, with increasing emphasis on assistance to the least developed countries. They promote technical and investment cooperation among nations.

Background:

NITI Aayog and United Nations in India signed the Sustainable Development Framework for 2018-2022 in September 2018. The agreement is a reflection of the commitment and efforts made by India towards attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.

The GOI-UNSDF outlines the development cooperation strategy between the Government of India and the United Nations Country Team in India, in support of the achievement of India’s key national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The GOI-UNSDF was framed following a highly participative process, in consultation with government entities, civil society representatives, academia, and the private sector.

The focus areas include -

  • Poverty and urbanization
  • Health, water, and sanitation
  • Education; nutrition and food security
  • Climate change, clean energy, and disaster resilience
  • Skilling, entrepreneurship, and job creation
  • Gender equality and youth development.

Scope of work:

The United Nations in India requires the services of an Service Provider to document the following across the 7 UNSDF identified states (including the Aspirational Districts) and the north-east region:

  • State profile
  • Presence of UN agencies in the state
  • Main results from 2018 to 2022. This will include both joint work/projects (inter-Service Provider collaboration) and individual Service Provider led work/projects
  • Case studies with photographs
  • COVID-19 response starting from 2020

Description of Responsibilities:

The Service Provider be required to document the UN in India’s key results and achievements in the following template:

  • Chapter 1 to 7 (one chapter for each state i.e., Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh)
  • Chapter 8 (one chapter for the entire north-east region i.e., (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim)
  • Chapter 9 will include the documentation of the UN in India’s COVID-19 response in the 7 states (including aspirational districts) and north-east region starting from 2020

Outputs:

A 30-to-35-page report documenting the UN in India’s key achievements and results from 2018 to 2022 across the 7 UNSDF identified states and the north-east region

Work Setting and Reporting Arrangements:

  • The firm will work in close coordination with UN Resident Coordinators Office (UNRCO)
  • The Service Provider should be available for virtual meetings with UNRCO and respective state offices, as and when required, to gather intel and receive a thorough briefing of the assignment
  • If required, the Service Provider will be asked to deploy personnel to the concerned states for further research and documentation
  • UNRCO will be responsible for all final approvals

Experience and Qualifications:

  • The Service Provider must be operational in India for at least 3 years
  • The Service Provider must have demonstrable experience ( at least 2 projects) in working on large scale projects that require coordination with multiple state offices
  • The Service Provider must have an internal content team comprising documentation expert, writer, editor, and proofreader ( CVs to be enclosed)
  • Prior work with the UN or any other multi-lateral Service Provider will be preferred
