Job Description
At Social and Economic Empowerment practice we are improving overall societal well-being, by designing and implementing solutions that advance women and communities towards a resilient and vibrant future. We are experienced in developing policies, strengthening systems, fostering behaviour change, and deepening social safety rooted in evidence and centring communities.
Our work spans three broad areas:
- Strengthening Girl Capital by equalizing access to education, expanding sexual and reproductive health education, and promoting meaningful participation in the workforce through skill development to bolster their agency;
- Empowering Women by addressing economic and societal barriers to improve their well-being by improving health and nutrition outcomes and grounding sustainable livelihoods;
Nurturing Resilient Communities by developing and implementing locally relevant climate adaptation strategies and building resilient agri-food systems.
We are looking to recruit an Associate Director (AD), who will advance the exciting work of Social and Economic Empowerment practice at IPE Global. The AD will anchor a range of policy-related issues, strategy development, and people management and work closely with relevant external and internal stakeholders. S/he will ensure effective and efficient implementation of the portfolio’s projects from early business development and proposal writing to implementation and closing down.
Job Responsibilities
Portfolio Amplification (60%):
- Identifying new business opportunities within India and outside, developing leads and contacting potential donors, devising business development strategies, and implementing them.
- Undertaking outreach activities, keeping up to date with trends within the sector, making sure targets are met periodically, and generating reports and presenting an analysis of business development progress.
- Read and analyse solicitation, proposal documents, and develop proposals
- Draft accurate, responsive, compelling text for proposals, including background/context, executive summary, technical approach overview, activity components, and technical annexes
- Collaborate with other team members to improve and streamline the proposal development process
- Maintain proposal content library locally including updated capability statements, research papers, past performances, management plans, and other related proposal content
Portfolio Management (25%):
- Provide guidance, technical leadership, and support to field projects, including project implementation strategy, work planning, mentoring of team members, and inputs to monitoring and evaluation.
- Coordinate with project implementation teams to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Provide support or leadership as needed to identify and secure partners, consultants, and full-time staff.
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with donor, funder, and/or client counterparts. Support project management activities, including reviewing and submitting project reports to donors, developing budgets and work plans, and backstop operations as needed.
Thought Leadership (15%):
- Participate in appropriate professional organisations and networks and stay current on significant themes in the profession.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to identify strategic industry outlets and opportunities for presenting and sharing portfolio work and results.
- Develop thought leadership content such as evidence papers, policy notes, expert blog posts, research publications, and media articles.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Possess an advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Rural Development, Development Management, Social Work, Public Policy or allied fields;
- Have atleast 10+ years of experience, preferably in the development sector;
- Possess previous experience of leading proposal development for bilateral/multi-lateral organisations, foundations, and philanthropies.
- Able to structure commercial proposals, demonstrated through hands-on experience.
- Have project management expertise, including management of large project teams
- Proven experience of working with governments and international aid agencies.
- Have prior experience in developing and disseminating knowledge products and fostering strategic partnerships with academia, media, research and thinktanks will be preferred.
