2. Job Background and Purpose:

Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL), an initiative of Piramal Foundation, is a change management organization that aims to improve student's learning outcomes by transforming Education Leadership at State, District, and School level, in partnership with District, State, and Central Governments. We aim to catalyze behavior change at scale, supporting government officials across the value chain to improve processes, deploy tools, integrate technology, and develop mindsets, leadership skills, and knowledge to improve children's quality of learning.

We wish to impact children's life chances by creating a second generation of education reforms that inspire a cross-section of stakeholders, including the government, other development partners, donors, and the general public. We endeavor to initiate an education movement to bring about a much-needed change in India's schools.

State Transformation Program (STP) is one of our critical programs attempting to redefine state & district level structures, curriculum, people capabilities, policies, and work processes. The program aims to systemically build a skilled and engaged teacher workforce to deliver 21st Century Competency skills.

This role is for a technology professional with at least two years of work experience looking to leverage their knowledge and skills in software product development and make a meaningful contribution to India's education transformation journey. The professional will be working as part of cross-functional teams with representation from domains like pedagogy, leadership development, teacher professional development, M&E, education policy, program design, organization development, MIS, change management, and process re-engineering.

The professional would be working with technology partners in activities ranging from product design to delivery and hands-on implementation. The professional would be responsible forsetting up documentation and support systems to ensure end-user delight that creates visible change on the ground.

3. Key Responsibilities and Duties           Percentage (%)

A.  Software Product Requirements        20%

  • Elicit the requirements through in-depth discussions with various stakeholders
  • Document the requirements through user stories, use cases, storyboards, wireframes, and other representations               
  • Prioritize and analyze the requirements to ensure they are clear, complete, and consistent        
  • Manage requirements by organizing and re-organizing the list as the product evolves and priorities shift              

B.  Project Management               20%

  • Understand various stages of traditional and agile software development           
  • Breakdown tasks into appropriate sizes and create Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)   
  • Identify task dependencies and track the project using available project management tools like Gantt Project, Microsoft Planner, Project Libre, etc.     
  • Assess and plan for project risks              

C.  Product Testing & Deployment           20%

  • Create acceptance tests and criteria       
  • Create end-user documentation, manuals, walkthroughs, etc.  
  • Plan & conduct pilots in coordination with various stakeholders
  • Analyzepilot performance and contribute to planning for scale-up deployment 
  • Setup systems for end-user support      

D. Data Collection &Data Analysis           20%

  • Design data collection tools needed for product development  
  • Conduct end-user surveys, analyze responses, and create dashboards on tools like Google Data Studio
  • Analyze product usage data and share analysis with team members       

E. Technology Facilitator & Enabler         20%

  • Facilitate face-to-face and virtual workshops on technology products    
  • Develop innovative ways to break down barriers to technology adoption             
  • Enable a culture of ease and experimentation with technology within the organization 

4. Key Performance Indicators

  • Quality & quantity of requirements documentation ( planned Vs delivered )
  • Timely execution of project deliverables ( planned Vs executed )
  • Number of issues or bugs identified and fixed before deployment
  • Number of dashboards and analysis delivered ( planned Vs delivered )
  • Number of workshops conducted and attendee satisfaction and learning outcomes

Work Condition and Environment

  • Min 15 days/month traveling to field on short notices will be a part of the role. The organization will sponsor the cost of travel as per norms.Due to COVID restrictions travel is currently prohibited and the professional is expected to Work From Home (WFH).

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • BE Computer Science or MCA or Graduate with requisite skills/experience may apply.

Experience:

  • At least two years experience in hands-on software product development
  • Experience in eliciting & documenting requirements from end-users and stakeholders
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience in facilitation and change management
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience working with open-source technologies is a plus

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of agile software development methodologies
  • Knowledge of open-source software ecosystem
  • Working knowledge of dash boarding tools like Google Data Studio
  • Passion for service and social impact, especially in the space of public education
  • Readiness to learn, unlearn, and re-learn while adapting to a dynamic work environment and needs
  • Comfort with taking up new and complex problems, applying everyday learning and insights, and solving through collaboration
  • Proven track record of working with high performing, geographically distributed, and diverse teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong writing, and research skills.
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of building and managing relationships with key stakeholders of organizations working in the technology, education sector, social impact organizations, and state government.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment and excellent Microsoft Office competency (Word, Excel, PPT etc)
  • Facilitation & presentation skills
  • Intermediate level quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to manage difficult partners and stakeholders and balance between relationship and project outcome.
