Located in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, NIT Hamirpur enjoys a really scenic environment and pleasant weather. Established in the year 1986, as REC Hamirpur, NIT Hamirpur has been declared as the Institute of National Importance under the Act of Parliament, 2007.
Categories of Ph.D. Programmes
The Institute shall admit Ph.D. candidates in following categories of Ph.D. programmes:
Full Time Research Scholars
Fellowship Research Scholars (Category Code: FT01)
These scholars shall be eligible for financial assistance in the form of fellowship at the approved rates and guidelines as notified by MHRD from time to time. The fellowship shall be awarded to the students of this category on a Semester–to-Semester basis on the recommendation of SRC (Student Research Committee) through Convener DPGC (Department Post Graduate Committee). The renewal of the assistantship is dependent on the satisfactory academic performance of the scholar.
Self-financed Research Scholars (Category Code: FT02)
These scholars shall be supporting themselves from their own funding arrangements.
Sponsored Research Scholars (Category Code: FT03)
The admission process of doctoral students of this category would be as per the guidelines issued by the related coordinating agencies. These scholars shall be sponsored by Government/Semi-Government organizations/Institutions. Such scholars receive financial support from AICTE under QIP scheme or from Government/Semi-Government institutions/organizations under study leave. Such a candidate must be sponsored by the current employer and must have been in employment with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of admission.
Eligibility for Admission:
Ph.D. in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences
The candidate must have passed Master Degree in relevant subject with minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/EWS/OBC category. Whereas, in case of SC/ST candidates, minimum CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in Master Degree will be applicable.
Ph.D. in Management
The candidate must have passed Master Degree in Management i.e. MBA with minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/EWS/OBC category. Whereas, in case of SC/ST candidates, minimum CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in Master Degree in Management will be applicable.
Separate application forms must be submitted for programmes offered by different Departments/Centres along with prescribed processing fee.
The candidate should solemnly and sincerely affirm that the statement made and information furnished by him/her in the application form is true and correct and no information has been concealed. However, if later on any information furnished is found to be fraudulent, incorrect or untrue, he/she would be liable to appropriate action and he/she has to forego his/her seat.
All declarations/results will be displayed on Institute website (http://www.nith.ac.in/) only. No separate letter/email/intimation will be issued.
If any candidate fails to submit the required certificates/documents by 15.09.2019, his/her provisional admission/registration in Ph.D. programme shall stand automatically cancelled.
