Thomson Reuters Foundation is the London-based charitable arm of Thomson Reuters, a Canadian global information and news network. The Foundation has used the Reuters principles of impartiality to train reporters around the world. The Foundation provides practical, skills-based training programmes available in seven languages and across 170 countries. The Foundation also sets up and manages independent news platforms.
Trust Conference is an annual human rights forum committed to finding real solutions to fight slavery, empower women, and advance human rights worldwide. The annual event convenes 600 delegates from the worlds of activism, civil society, law, government and business in the heart of London for two full days of inspiration, networking, and action. Trust Conference is the world’s leading anti-slavery and trafficking forum bringing together global corporations, lawyers, government representatives, and human rights activists to take action. This annual event was launched by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2012 as Trust Women and has evolved to encompass a broader spectrum of human rights issues.
About the Event:
The Trust Conference Changemakers Programme funds frontline activists and human rights defenders from around the world to attend the annual conference. This year, the organization will award up to 60 scholarships to applicants from diverse disciplines who will bring their unique perspectives and take action at Trust Conference. The Trust Conference Changemakers Programme offers access to an influential gathering of NGOs, heads of corporations, lawyers, public servants and philanthropists.
Selection will be based on a rating system developed by the Changemakers Programme review committee. Successful applicants will use their bursary (if applicable) to cover travel, visa and accommodation costs to attend Trust Conference 2019.One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference ; One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference and a £750 bursary to help cover travel and accommodation expenses ; One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference and a £1,250 bursary to help cover travel and accommodation expenses
Who Can Apply?
The Trust Conference Changemakers Programme is open to all applicants working in the area of human rights. Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries who can demonstrate how their participation in Trust Conference will enhance their work and impact.
How To Apply
Changemaker Programme applications will open in March 2019. Applications can only be submitted online using the designated form. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in June 2019.
Selected applicants will receive:
- A free day of specialised training and networking with other Changemakers on November 12, 2019
- Free attendance at the Trust Conference on November 13 and 14, 2019
- A potential financial bursary to support travel and accommodation costs (up to £1,250).
- Their name and photo in Trust Conference marketing materials and on the official website.
