International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the amazing social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women - while also campaigning for greater progress towards gender equality. Internationally celebrated on 8th of March, it is a focal point in the movement for women's rights. In this article, we document how different organizations celebrated women.

UNDP in India
UNDP India took to Twitter to share the stories of how #DishaSkills, a partnership between UNDP India and India Development Foundation, supported by #IKEA Foundation is helping young women in poor communities grow their ambitions and learn the skills they need to find a job.

Airport Authority of India, Guwahati
To mark the International Women’s Day, AAI’s entire operations of all Air Traffic movements were controlled by the women ATCOs (Air Traffic Control officers) of Guwahati Airport on the Day. The women ATC team of Guwahati Airport took over the full operations of Aircraft at the Airport since the morning in different shifts.
Air India kicked off Women’s Day Celebrations in style. The national carrier flew 12 International and 40 domestic flights on the joyous day with an all-women crew. A total of 52 flights were being operated by women in Air India to celebrate International Women’s Day.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
On the occasion of celebrating women and their contribution to the society, UNDP appointed Padma Lakshmi, an Indian-American television personality, food expert and an award-winning author as its newest goodwill ambassador, supporting the agency's fight against inequality and discrimination around the world.
In her new role, the Emmy-nominated television personality and award-winning author will mobilise support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a focus on fighting inequality, discrimination and empowering the disenfranchised.

Vistara becomes the first Indian airline to offer free sanitary pads "on request" to women travellers on domestic flights from International Women's Day on March 8. The airline will provide ISO 9001:2015 certified, bio-degradable and organic sanitary napkins made from plant-based fibres that are free of plastic, toxins and perfume.
