Tata Power - DDL supported The Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi for conducting counselling & motivational sessions at one of its Child Care Institutes (CCI)

In alignment with the Tata Affirmative Action Program (TAAP), Tata Power-DDL strive to create opportunities for the historically marginalised communities (SC/ST) with respect to the four pillars of TAAP: Education, Employment, Employability and Entrepreneurship. In view of the same, Tata Power - DDL supported The Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi for conducting counselling & motivational sessions at one of its Child Care Institutes (CCI).

The session was organised at Alipur CCI on August 31st in the presence of Mr. Parveen Kumar, Superintendent, CCI, Mr. Varun Yadav, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Mr. Pankaj Kumar Singh HoD —Social Innovation Group Tata Power-DDL, members of Social Innovation Group and NGO partner (AdmissionzCampuzz).

The session was conducted in 2 parts - Motivational Session for Primary Class students and Career Counselling Session for Secondary & Senior Secondary Class (SSC) Students. The motivational session included videos and storytelling format through which there was a responsive participation by the children. The Career Counselling session included a structured discussion in the form of presentation to the children about various options to look out for after completing their education. A total of 103 students participated in the session. Question/Answer round and Feedback sharing was also done post session for both the groups.

CCIs are shelter homes for children in need of care and protection as they are parentless or run­away children. These children are enrolled in the nearby government schools but need special attention and care for their all-round development.

In addition, Tata Power-DDL also organises career counselling sessions for students of 46 Government Schools by open and one-to-one sessions. The students are selected based on the “economic need criteria”. As per feedback received from the teachers & principals of these schools, career-counselling program has led to decline in the dropout rate and has improved their academic performances.
