Tata Power-DDL has inaugurated a “Community Kitchen” to provide healthy & hygienic meals to the employees
Given the vast expanse of area under Tata Power-DDL’s operation, a need was felt to cater to the requirement of low-cost, healthy and hygienic meals and snacks for employees, BA employees, ABHAs, WLC instructors and other beneficiaries attending trainings at Gulabi Bagh. To facilitate this need and to empower women, an initiative called Project Bhojanam (Community Kitchen) has been started, wherein few selected trained women of SHGs will start an in-house kitchen at Gulabi Bagh Grid and DOSEC office of Tata Power-DDL. These Self-Help Groups have been trained under the CSR pillar of UNNATI (women & youth empowerment). This will provide an alternative to local Tiffin services, restaurants and existing external vendors. This will also serve as an entrepreneurial opportunity and a regular source of income for SHG members, as the kitchen will be run by the women themselves. A win-win solution, for both parties. On the basis of the performance of the kitchen at DOSEC office, the project will be expanded pan Tata Power-DDL, allowing more trained and dedicated community women to join the entrepreneurial venture.
The Project Bhojanam was inaugurated on 7th August 2019 by Senior Leadership Team lead by Mr. Shenbagam Manthiram (VP & COO) and Mr. Sushil Kumar Srivastava (VP & Chief-HR & Admin). Mr. Piyush Goyal, Head (Corporate Services) welcomed all the dignitaries and introduced the project to all present. The inauguration was followed by lunch where the Senior Leadership Team tasted the freshly prepared meals and gave positive feedback regarding the project and appreciated the quality of food prepared.
