Job Description:

India has the highest burden of Tuberculosis (TB) in the world, accounting for more than 27% of the global TB incidence. India has outlined an ambitious agenda of eliminating tuberculosis by the year 2025. As outlined in the National Strategic Plan (2017-25), the cornerstone for India’s TB elimination plans hinges on scaling up of public private mix (PPM) initiatives, rolling out incentives through Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) and scaling up ICT based solutions. Existing state health society’s capacity to contract services is limited. This has resulted in limited uptake of PPM initiatives and major gaps in private sector engagement.


The Manager will work closely with Central TB Division (CTD) in scaling up the PPM strategy. She/he will lead a team of state program officers and support them in driving contracting of PPM services and uptake of DBT and ICT based solutions at the state level. The Manager will manage stakeholder relationships with government partners, donors and other non-governmental organizations among others.


  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with CTD, state government stakeholders and key partners at a senior level
  • Provide in-depth and high-quality technical assistance on PPM initiatives at the national and state level
  • Manage a team of state level program officers and provide ongoing support to the team
  • Provide strategic insight at technical working groups and/or other high level meetings/conferences as a senior level representative of CHAI
  • Undertake donor and grant management and manage the operations and finances of the program to meet deliverables within the appropriate timeframes
  • Ensure cross learning across different states enabling faster uptake of PPM initiatives
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a related field such as medicine, public health or management 
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector
  • Strong established network with government stakeholders
  • Ability to manage large teams spread across multiple locations
  • Prior experience working with health programs
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate and drive change in large programme settings
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Strong communication skills, including development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results into formats suitable for various audiences
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects and proactively manage projects with minimal supervision
  • High EQ and excellent interpersonal skills, especially in cross-cultural settings and highly distributed work environments with demonstrated ability to build relationships quickly
  • Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice
