Project Specialist- Capacity Building (TF Project)

The Tenure Facility (TF) project is a multi-objective initiative that aims at upscaling Community Tenure and Jurisdiction for tribal and forest dwellers in India. The central objective is to effectively secure community rights (CR) and forest tenure rights of Indigenous and local communities by creating recognition, awareness and utilization of the Community Forest Rights (CFR) provided by India’s Forest Rights Act (FRA) of 2006.

We are seeking to recruit motivated candidates for the position of Project Specialist. This person will help in building connections to civil society to enable partnerships on community forest rights

The major KPIs for the profile are as detailed below:

1) Identify and Reach out to Civil Society Actors to set the Agenda:

  • Contribute to the development and evolution of a comprehensive strategy for creating a pool of master trainers on community forest rights in India;
  • Identify potential partners and initiate discussion on opportunities for collaboration;
  • Create and produce use cases for dissemination and discussion to further the agenda.

Organize trainings, meetings and other events to pursue the agenda:

  • Collate and organize existing training material on community rights;
  • Arrange small meetings, workshops, roundtables, and public events;
  • Produce reports of events for dissemination and follow up with participants.

Additional Management Duties:

  • Liaise with other ISB and non-ISB organizations;
  • Coordinate with TF partners;

·        Assist the Executive Director in organizing TF project event;

  • Outreach to donors for sponsorship of events;
  • Support the Executive Director in implementing the TF project.


SKILLS and qualifications



Master’s or PhD in a field related to Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Geography, and other Social Sciences, with experience in debates around community forest rights and civil society engagement.



Desk research, analytical writing, and digital communication; preference will be given to those with advanced skills in training and effective presentation.


Teamwork, mentorship, professional interaction with senior representatives from civil society and government.


3 years or more in the area of public policy action research and engagement.
