JOB PROFILE
Barefoot College’s education department runs 53 digital night schools spread across 10
States, one residential bridge school in Singla and one day-school in Tilonia (Rajasthan). The
department conducts multiple workshops and trainings with night school and day school
teachers to improve their last mile classroom delivery. The training specialist will be
reporting directly to the Curriculum Lead in the Education Department of Barefoot College,
and shall be responsible for planning and conducting training workshops across various
States, in Tilonia or in other locations as need be.
As a part of the role, the training specialist shall need to support curriculum development in
the areas of gender, health, environment, democratic leadership, literacy, numeracy,
practical science, mental health, arts and more, with guidance from the Curriculum Lead.
She also needs to plan, coordinate and implement training workshops with teachers in
Barefoot schools. Her role shall require extensive travel to field locations to build capacity of
community teachers.
The role therefore shall require the person to have a research aptitude, proven strong
qualities as an effective trainer, strength in planning and coordination and high degree of
organization and documentation skills. It is important that the individual’s interest and
abilities are not restricted to only a few of the curricular topics and the individual must
display a learning attitude so as to align the curricular development and training to Barefoot
strategic direction and values. The role would also require the person to travel across
Barefoot Night schools spread across various States. At present, we are looking for two
individuals who will be based out of Bihar/Chattisgarh/Jharkhand/Odhisha; and one
individual based out of Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh (with added fluency in speaking and
understanding both Kannada and Telugu languages).
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
TRAINING
1. Plan, Travel, and Conduct teachers’ training for Digital Night School teachers,
Shikshaniketan (day school in Tilonia), residential school teacher (Singla) and also for
any other outreach project, as instructed by the Curriculum Lead or the Head of
Education.
2. Have complete understanding of the diverse Barefoot Education curriculum so as to deliver teacher’s training effectively in any topic.
3. Assist teachers in incorporating new technology into their lessons.
4. Provide feedback to teachers based on individual observation and student performance data.
CURRICULUM SUPPORT & MONITORING
1. Developing and improving the instructional materials. Stay informed of trends in instructional methods and educational technology.
2. Monitoring curriculum implementation and digital night schools functioning. 3. Write grant proposals related to curriculum and instructional matters.
PREFFERED SKILLS
1. Previous Teaching experience, with children as well as adults.
2. Ability to mentor and guide teachers and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
3. Enjoys travelling to remote locations.
4. Advanced level written and verbal communication skills including ability of active listening and interpersonal communication skills to clearly and concisely convey.
5. Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
6. Emotional maturity to handle work pressure.
7. Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
8. Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Experience of teaching (children or adult). Experience in curriculum development/Masters in Social Work and/or Education is preferred.
2. Proficient in use of technology in learning.

LOCATION Two positions will be based either out of Bihar/Chhattisgarh/Jharkhand/Odhisha and one position to be based in Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh. For the first two months of on-field
training, the person will be based in at Barefoot College in Tilonia, Rajasthan, followed by moving to their respective base locations. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS For all Training Specialist positions, language proficiency in English is a must.
