NIMHANS has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament vide Government of India Gazette Notification dated 14.9.2012. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, the Rehabilitation Council of India Act, 1992, the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947, and the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, the medical degrees, diplomas, nursing degrees and certificates granted by the Institute under this Act shall be recognized medical qualifications for the purposes of the Acts aforesaid and shall be deemed to be included in the Schedule to the respective Acts.

Minimum requirement for admission

Qualification Eligibility

2 years of Master’s Degree in Social Work OR M.Phil. In Psychiatric Social work.

Other criteria

Applicants awarded External Fellowship from various External Funding Agencies also can apply

Program of Study

The candidate would be trained in research methodology, theoretical and practical aspects. All the candidates have to complete Pre-Ph.D. examination after one year from the date of provisional registration
