Certificate/ Diploma Course in Child & Adolescent Counselling (CAC)

(06/12 months)

 

Centre for Child Protection (CCP), Sardar Patel University of Police, Security & Criminal Justice (SPUP), has started the ‘Certificate / Diploma Course in Child and Adolescent Counselling’. This programme is being operating on the mode of ‘Walkout Procedure’. Following curriculum scheme is being followed:

 

• 06 months for Certificate Course (One semester of six months).
• 01 year for Diploma Course (Two semesters - each semester of six months).

 

If any participant wishes to leave the course after completion of six months, then a Certificate in ‘Child and Adolescent Counselling’ will be awarded to him/her provided he/she successfully passes the examination. Participant who completes one year course will be eligible for the award of Diploma in ‘Child and Adolescent Counselling’ after successfully passing the examination. After the completion of this programme, the learner will be able to understand the nature and personality of children of different categories and the complexity of childhood. The salient features of this programme are as follows:

 

• To provide learners with the core knowledge required for child counselling.
• To acquaint learners with the use of healthy and positive behaviour with the children.
• To provide understanding that what child counselling is and why it is important.
• To provide hands-on training in assessment of various forms of disorders and their assessment and providing counselling support to children.
• To equip learners with the skills of using appropriate knowledge of different counselling techniques and therapies for child counselling.
• Providing basic and primary psychological interventions for children, adolescents, their Families and other stakeholders in the area of child and adolescent wellbeing.
• Enhancing support systems in the community to address the psychological problems of children and adolescents.
• This certificate course aims at enhancing the capacities of the persons interested in working in the field of child and adolescent counselling through demonstrations, interactive sessions, workshops, field visits and discussions.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

• Post Graduate Degree in Social Science, preferably in Social Work / Sociology /Psychology / Education / Human Development.
• Graduation with experience of working with children / counselling for NGO personnel.
• Police personnel with 05 years’ experience and Degree of Graduation.
• There is no age bar to take admission in this course.
• Eligibility can be relaxed in exceptional cases. This discretion will lie with the office of Director, CCP.

 

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

 

Medium of Instruction is Bilingual i.e. Hindi and English.

 

COURSE FEE

 

• For Certificate Course in Child and Adolescent Counselling Rs. 8,000 (Rs. Eight Thousand) per semester (excluding examination fee as per University Norms).

• For Diploma Course in Child and Adolescent Counselling Rs. 16,000 (Rs. Sixteen Thousand) excluding examination fee as per University Norms.
