About the Organization

The Hult Prize is a global startup program that challenges young people to build for-profit businesses that create measurable social and environmental impact. Since 2010, it has grown into one of the world’s largest student movements for social entrepreneurship, engaging millions of participants in more than 130 countries.

We’re grateful to our partners and benefactors, without whom this movement would not be possible.

The Hult Prize started at Hult International Business School, where hands-on learning is core to the experience. That same spirit continues to shape how the competition runs today.

The annual $1M USD prize is generously funded by the Hult family, founders and owners of EF Education First.

About the Prize

The Hult Prize is a year-long program that challenges students to build for-profit startups that tackle global issues. Over five progressive phases, teams hone their ideas, receive mentorship, and compete to win $1M in seed funding.

The Hult Prize challenges students to launch for-profit startups that support at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). At the end of the competition, one team will win $1M USD in seed funding to bring their idea to life.

Whether you're building a business from scratch or growing an early-stage venture, you're welcome in our community. All you need to start, is a team and an idea.

  • Form a Team: Connect with 2-3 other eligible students and register your team.
  • Solve a Problem: Develop a for-profit, for-good business idea using design thinking.
  • Compete: Build your business plan, submit your application and start pitching!

Competition Rounds

The Hult Prize competition runs September through September and consists of 5 successive rounds: Qualifiers, Nationals, Digital Incubator, Global Accelerator and Global Finals.

Eligibility

We welcome teams of 2-4 students from almost every country in the world who are:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Enrolled in any degree-granting program (including undergraduate and graduate programs) at the time of registration.
  • Pitching a for-profit business that directly supports at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)

How to Apply

Once you’ve formed a team, identified a problem and developed a solution, you’ll register online to compete in our qualifying rounds. If your institution hosts a local competition on campus, you’ll be connected with the organizers. If not, you’ll be directed to submit through our Open Application.
