About Bharti Airtel Foundation

The Bharti Airtel Foundation was established in 2000 as the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises. Its mission is to empower underprivileged children and youth in India to realise their full potential. The Foundation focuses on providing holistic, quality education in rural areas, with a special emphasis on girls. It also collaborates with premier institutions to support higher education programs.

Since 2006, the Foundation’s flagship initiative — the Satya Bharti School Program — has been offering free, quality education to thousands of underprivileged children across 155 schools in rural India, spanning five states. Currently, over 36,000 students are enrolled in Satya Bharti Schools, with 51% of them being girls.

Beyond academics, Satya Bharti Schools emphasise holistic education through innovative activities within the school and community. These include experiential learning, project-based and activity- based approaches, art-integrated learning, story-based pedagogy, and the use of educational technology resources. Additionally, community campaigns and service initiatives help build vocational skills among students, preparing them for future employability.

The impact of quality education has been further extended through the Quality Support Program (QSP), which has transferred the learnings and best practices of the school program to over 394,000 students studying in 1,100 partnering government schools across 12 States/UTs since 2013. Most of the processes under QSP have been found to be pragmatic. The Bharti Airtel Foundation has been invited by several district and state-level education officers to scale up some of these initiatives through QSP State Partnerships.

The Foundation has recently launched a new initiative - TheTeacherApp - one of the most innovative technology solutions for teachers and educators in the country.

In response to the Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Foundation initiated the Satya Bharti Abhiyan in 2014, which concluded in 2021. This initiative benefited over 200,000 individuals by improving sanitation conditions in districts of Punjab.

Since inception, the Foundation has positively impacted nearly 3.7 million children through its education programs.

Scope of Work:           Developing Instructor-led Digital Teacher Training Content Topic: Systematic Synthetic Phonics - English as a second language

1.  Project Overview

This project focuses on developing high-quality, engaging instructor-led digital teacher training content enabling teachers to build English Literacy in students. The final output will be a series of sequenced short training videos designed for teachers, aligned with TheTeacherApp’s vision and standards.

The journey of each piece of content will include:

1. Mind Map Creation – conceptualising the topics and flow of videos.
2. Script Development – designing clear, engaging scripts for each video, keeping in mind Indian rural as well as sub-urban school infrastructure and culture.
3. Video Production – creating professional-quality short MP4 videos.

As the knowledge partner, you will be responsible for all three stages: from mind map to scripting and final video production. TheTeacherApp team will evaluate content at each stage.

2.  Project Objectives

1. Develop 25 short instructor-led teacher training videos (3–4 minutes each, approx. 1.5 hours total).
2. Ensure the training content is pedagogically sound, engaging, and practical for teachers.
3. Provide content aligned with organizational goals that addresses teacher needs and common misconceptions in spelling and phonics.
4. Deliver content within the agreed timeframe (3 months) and budget.

3.  Project Deliverables and Timeline

• Mind Maps for each of the 25 videos (detailing learning outcomes and flow).
• Scripts for each video (teacher-friendly, engaging, concise).
• 25 short MP4 videos (3–4 minutes each), final approved versions ready for use.
• Total duration of content: 1.5 hours.
• Timeframe of project completion: 4 months

4.  Knowledge Partner Qualifications

• Subject Matter Expertise: Strong understanding of spelling rules, phonics, and related student misconceptions.
• Pedagogical Knowledge: Familiarity with effective teaching strategies, andragogy, and adult learning principles.
• Classroom Experience: Practical teaching experience in classrooms.
• Content Development Skills: Ability to research, synthesize, and create engaging, teacher-friendly content.
•  Teacher Training Experience: Experience designing/delivering teacher training programs.
•  Video Creation Skills: Capability to produce professional short-form MP4 training videos.
